New paintings and regular art updates.
One of my paintings from a couple of years ago. I’ve decided to put it in the Vision Exhibition this Saturday and Sunday at the Rigger Venue in Newcastle-under-Lyme. I have been working on it to give it a more three dimensional feel. That’s why I’m posting this at 2.21am…I just finished it. It’s acrylic on canvas and about 12 inches square. Now I need mirror plates and screws. That will be a task for tomorrow.

Held up by metal hoops, the branches of the Laburnum trees are trained across the pathway at the Dorothy Clive Garden. At the right time of year it is covered with glorious bunched of flowers that hang down in curtains over it. Beautifully underplanted with the star like globes of purple Allium flowers.
We were lucky to see this a few days ago. The flowers have probably faded and changed to pea like seed pods now. Note: Laburnum seed pods are Not peas and are Poisonous. Be careful. X

I am doing a college course in illustration and as far as I’m aware we are supposed to be doing working drawings, just drafts, so I’ve done a lot of doodles and drawings, trying ideas and layouts. But when I looked at what my fellow students have done everything looks fully worked up. I’m questioning whether I have missed the brief? I can only do what they ask. Quite worried now.
Looking up at Seven beech trees entwined at the top. Inner branches trimmed and from the outside looking like a huge tree. Branches with leaves going down to the ground. There is a huge wooden bench inside in the middle.

I did a coloured drawing of this on the computer but when I tried to save it the computer crashed! Anyway this is a black and white drawing of a broken gate to a field. It was imagined because I couldn’t find a thing that was nice on the computer.
I wonder if the digital drawing I did is saved somewhere on my old PC. Anyway this is the best I can do.
One thing I did do yesterday was make a couple of pieces clay that might be used as part of a tiled piece at the BCB (British Ceramic Biennial in September at Spode in Stoke, Stoke-on-Trent. They will be fired up and someone else may end up glazing them.
I made lots of marks using old buttons and metal rings. I tried to give them a three dimensional look. I hope they won’t explode on the kiln.
It’s good finding different things to do when you are having a day out.
Another visit to Trentham Gardens today for a gentle stroll after a few too many Gin and Tonics last night. It was far cooler today although the sun did shine. My sunburn kept me warm. We had a meal and enjoyed exploring the show gardens over in a far corner of the site.
I still managed a reasonable 6000 steps although I never really raised me heart rate.
When I looked into joining there were various factors that helped me decide to join. I hope we go frequently enough to make it worthwhile and its pleasant to walk in grounds designed by Capability Brown although urban streets are OK too.
We had to find shade!
