The drawing of Captain Kirk I did years ago. Now William Shatner, who played him in the Star Trek sci-fi series in the 1960’s, has flown up in a rocket and reached the edge of space.
60 miles up, a ten minute flight. But he’s 90 years old and he has done it! The oldest person/ actor/ sci-fi star to hitch a ride above the Earth. Well done x
My digital doodle of the northern lights. A couple of days ago the sun threw off a medium sized Coronal Mass Ejection (CME). A plume of hot plasma which the Sun throws out every few days into space. This time it was a halo CME which was pointing directly at us on Earth.
The Sun releases plasma and radiation which can cause effects like auroras on Earth. Streams of electrons and ionised gas travel down the magnetic lines of force that surround the Earth in a protective layer. They hit out atmosphere and glow different colours depending on what atoms they excite.
Yesterday aurora were seen quite far down the longitude of the Northern hemisphere. It might happen again tonight. The sky glowed. I don’t live far enough north to be able to see it. One day I hope I do.

I’m working on a series of images of dragons for a college project. Working towards a final depiction of a dragon for my proposed children’s book.
Thus started out as a bit of glittery painting I’d called dragon skin. Then I mirrored it so it was symmetrical. Finally I drew features on it symmetrically using a digital sketching app. I like the idea of amalgamating digital and analogue art.
I’m not explaining, it’s too complicated. But here are two pictures. Today’s #bandofsketchers prompt ‘sharp shards’ and then digitally edited it to create the second image. I think it coukd be used as a fabric design. I had fun.
I have done an abstract using shiny acrylic paint and a pallette knife, then using felt pens to add colour. I’ve called it ‘sharp shards’. Today’s #bandofsketchers prompt was sharp.
As usual I’m experimenting with materials and techniques. I love colour and I added splashes of it with bright felt pens I bought lasr week. The acrylic paints are little bottles with glittery and opalescent colours.

I like it, I like the Romaesco version I think it’s called. The version with sculptural spiral swirls that are like a version of fibonnacci number patterns. The spirals have a fractal look about them. If you’ve never seen it look it up online. It’s a fascinating shape.

Today’s #bandofsketchers prompt was pressure. This is a strange one. Didn’t know what to draw. Decided on finger pressing a plunger…. Maybe a trumpet valve?

He’s enjoying colouring in some pictures, relaxing, his style is abstract. Following the lines or adding extra lines, not using regular colours.
He does it his way, and he gets a lot out of it. Getting that “feeling of flow” people talk about. It’s good seeing him drawing and colouring. There is such a large selection of adult colouring books out there. Worth having a go. I like his use of colours.
I started digitally drawing and I can’t stop…
I do love cats and this ginger cat doodle cheered me up. I’m still learning how I want to use the various tools. I have to think about opacity when I’m using this app which is called sketcher free. It seems to be about line drawing rather than a more painterly app like ArtRage oils. But that makes this more of a drawing app. Hope you enjoy?
