Learning the trumpet

This is the finger positions fit the New world symphony that Im trying to learn. I can get the lower notes ( I still need to learn which notes are which). One thing with loud music being played outside is that no one can hear the notes I’ve been murdering in here!
I need to get my lips stronger to get a good embouchure. Practice is the only way to do it. At the moment the air escapes from the side of my mouth instead of going down the trumpet. Then there is the moisture from your breath. That’s why you have drainage holes to let it out.
Anyway maybe I will learn it well enough to play to people? We will see.

Thudding music

How do I draw the loud music coming from the pub over the road? It’s been going on since before we got in at 4pm and it’s 7pm now. It’s the base beat, it’s shaking the house. There are also people screaming and shouting. I’m trying to ignore it. But the window frames are rattling! It’s literally making my head hurt. My shoulders are tense. I feel very angry. But, the people there are very aggressive and I don’t feel able to challenge 30 or 40 of them.
Imagination is a good thing. But some of the things I’m thinking are very violent! How I wish I lived in the middle of a field, in the middle of the countryside. Trying to think of quiet things, but I’m still annoyed.
Paint water

I never knew what paints she used, said the man, the pictures were always bright and colourful. I guess they must have been water based. Look here is a glass mug full of water.
Yes, said the policeman. But no paintings? And no sign of her? You told us she’s been missing for a week.
Yes, said the man. I thought she had gone away for a break. But she’s not been in touch. Not phoned or emailed me. It’s very unusual, and she wouldn’t take all her art.
The conversation did not identify any additional information.
Meanwhile, in a small costal village, she sat and painted the sea.
Colours

When you take a photo do you ever think of adjusting the colours or the hue? It’s easily done on a smart phone. You can use so thing called ‘curves’ where you can change all the colours, tones, contrast and dark and light using one tool. You have a curve indicating the colours and by adjusting the curve in different places…. I’ve taken a few screenshots to explain. First take a picture, then go to photo editor.
I don’t know how anyone else’s phone works, but in photo editor if you find the editing button in editor, choose the one for changing colours. The icon has a curve on it. Click on that and you can adjust the levels, you can see them move on the screen. When you like it choose save. You then have an image that looks completely mad, or subtle, or however you like it.
Finished Mars

Finished, the colours are a bit off as I’m painting under electric light. I’ve tried to get accurate details on it although I’m still wanting it to be painterly. I don’t want my paintings to look airbrushed or filtered.
It’s the old analogue or digital argument. Everything is HD these days. But I’m not trying to get photo realism, just realism. So, now I’m going to leave this. If I have a night’s sleep I might be able to come back to it. There are thousands of craters and trenches and rills and canyons on Mars. It’s a rocky planet with a very thin atmosphere. It can be completely covered by dust storms and the details of the surface can be covered over. The carbon dioxide poles shrink and grow dependent on the seasons. In the past the surface was imagined to be covered with canals (a misinterpretation of the Italian word Canali – meaning channels). Astronomers thought the dark patches were vegetation. Now we know Mars is a rocky, desert planet. About two thirds the size of Earth with lower gravity. It has lost most of its atmosphere and water over billions of years, probably because its molten core has solidified and it now has no magnetic shield to stop solar radiation from causing the atmosphere to stream away into space.
Almost done?

I need a rest, my eyes are boggling.
I don’t know if I’ve made it worse or better. I’m trying to paint in craters on this painting of Mars, but I can’t keep going at the moment because I’m tired and I’m trying to paint while holding my phone. Anyway I’ve got to get it finished. Bye for now.
Ill

My head feels like it’s about to explode.
I’ve got the lurgy.
The snots.
My nose has legs and is running.
Very green sneezes.
My bones are aching badly.
Even my feet ache.
Stomach and back are sore.
Fed up.
I’ll sleep……
At the warehouse

Although we spent most of the evening moving junk out of the warehouse at Etruria I did get a short time to do some sketching. It’s a bit stern looking but it’s relatively accurate. I give you…..My hubby. A quick pencil sketch.
