A metal (cast iron) cold painted black and white cat on my windowsill in the kitchen. I have two. They both peep out through the Christmas cactuses. I don’t know why it’s there, it just is. It stares back at me, he’s quite startling in the right light. I’m seeing things better these days.
It’s a wire cat my friend made, she’s done fairys and birds and squirrels. But now she’s gone onto making cats. I really like this, it’s about 12 inches tall and 9 inches wide. I’ve got it on my windowsill along with a collection of ornaments and a couple of plants (which I keep forgetting to water). I think its well modelled and quite cute. She certainly put a lot of work into it.
Sun glancing through the stairs window in January. I don’t have a window cleaner and the ivy is growing up and in the way and the glass ornaments on the windowsill. But I like the chaotic jumble of colour and shadow. I’m not very organised about anything anymore. By the time I’ve walked upstairs I’m ready to fall over. Dusting? I haven’t done that in a while. I need to get my act together. Anyway not much else to be said.

I painted this ginger cat a few years ago. He’s based on a stray that moved in with us for a while. He would sit on a windowsill and stare out at the garden. I decided to make his view a bit more floral, and almost Mediterranean.
Unfortunately we had to rehome him because he would fight with our other cats and ended up with an abscess in his paw. I spoke to the vets and they agreed to find him a good home. I hope he was happy and it was sad to say goodbye to him.
On a windowsill in Spode. The plant fits in with the background of a metal window frame and frosted glass. The buildings outside are hidden from view. The old teapot adds to the ancient feel of the image. It just needs a spiders web to make it really spooky.
A wizard figurine hides behind our money plant upstairs. If he was originally a real wizard something has minaturised him and turned him into resin! Anyway if he’s casting a spell he’s not being very successful!
I do have lots of weird ornaments, but this one, and another of a roman soldier on a downstairs windowsill are both my hubbys choice. They go along with all the trains, tractors, and model cars. I guess we are really just hoarders at heart….
Today’s #bandofsketchers prompt was shelf/windowsill. This is part of my collection of glass paperweights. They are on an upstairs windowsill. It’s shady and when it does get sunny they don’t make the sill get hot luckily. (They have been known to cause fires). Another felt pen drawing.
Pink and red flowers popping open like fireworks, following the curve of the leaves as they sprout. Some of them have flowered, some are open now and some are in bud… How do they know to flower? Day length. Apparently if you move a Christmas cactus about too much it may drop its flowers. I’m not sure if that’s true or a gardening myth. I do know you can break a few leaves off and put it in water and it will send out water roots, you can plant them up. Some of these (cactuses cactii?) were propogated from my grandmother’s plants forty years ago. X Nrxt- Easter Cactuses.
A wizard presides over some of my collection of glass paperweights. I made sure the sun doesn’t shine in too brightly on this particular windowsill. There are no curtains so the glass orbs cannot set fire to anything – they could act as magnifying lenses. I think the first ones I got were a present about thirty years ago, but I then started collecting them. They are colourful and tactile. Creativity comes in many guises.
