I haven’t got Covid!

Phew! I don’t have Covid now. I think I might have had it this week. Sneezing, feeling hot, sore throat, achy. I’m relieved and I am feeling a little better. I need to go and get cat food and things for myself, but I am so tired all I want to do is sleep.

Sorry to have a moan, but I think I caught this when I visited the doctors last week for a different problem. The waiting room was full and you never know what’s in the air. Maybe I should wear a mask if I go shopping? Just hope I can get my Covid booster soon. Take care all. X

I frequently get games popping up in adverts on my phone and sometimes they say they will measure your IQ?

I just played a game where you ‘unscrew’ bolts that hold a building together. You have to rotate the building in 3d to find the bolts, and also you have to chose the correct colours to remove so that they slot into three matching coloured holes at the top of the page.

I started and kept going to the end, when the counter for IQ got over 120 I was surprised, but as I removed the screws it kept increasing (it didn’t get more difficult). When it finally got to 600 at the end of the game my scepticism peaked!

Silly game, just a test of hand eye coordination.

Seeking shadows..

One big disadvantage of having to have eyedrops to open up your irises is it’s blinding on a bright sunny day when you leave your opticians. I was dreading having it done today and the sun shone brilliantly as it has done for the last week. I was searching for my clip on sunglasses for ages before I found them. Their lenses are bigger than my current spectacles so they were good because they covered my area of vision better than my normal glasses. I did find that as I waked towards the sun the light leaked round the edges and made it impossible to see through the dazzle. I found it difficult to cross roads. So I wandered along next to buildings trying to find as much shadow as I could and got home safely.

Driving test

How has a failure, or apparent failure, set you up for later success?

When I failed my driving test I learnt from that experience, I learned that an unmarked crossroads should be approached with caution and you should stop to check if anyone else is coming and give way if necessary. Also if the driver next to you drives over a pedestrian crossing on a one way street, don’t assume it’s clear of pedestrians. If someone is about to cross- Stop!

When I did the follow up test my car would not start… It turned out it was an electrical fault. I sat in the drivers seat while people from the test centre had to give me a bump (push) start. The instructor told me to turn right, I indicated left! I apologised, explained the electric problem had flustered me. We started again, me convinced I had failed again.

We did the test, I passed! I was amazed, but I had learnt from the previous test.

Covid? still got it?

I feel rough so I did another covid test. It’s positive again. I managed to avoid it for all the years it’s been around. I think I’ve just been unlucky and seen too many people recently. I really feel bad incase I’ve passed it on to others. According to the government you don’t have to self isolate any more, but why would I not protect my friends and family?

Sore throat, dizzy, runny nose, aches, hot and cold shivers. I hate it, I don’t need it. I want to be better. I’ve got things I need to do but I have to be patient. It’s very frustrating, and the longer things get left the less I want to do them.

Someone told me if it’s just one line even if it’s the C line it’s negative? Googled it and apparently you have to have both lines to be positive. I will test again in the morning but might be good news. X

Todays #bandofsketchersprompt was signage, and as I was walking home after a long, wet, cold walk I decided to take a photo with my very soggy camera, of the view. Since my college course has me doing observational images every day this fit the bill for both prompts.

Felt pens for the signs, a bit of underdrawing with a felt pen thats running out, and watercolours to give it a “wet” feel.

Citizenship test!

I’ve just done the British Citizenship test practice questions. Something people who are coming to live here have to take.

My family is British and the family history is British. So I should have got 100%…24 out of 24? NO ! I got 16 out of 24…or 62%…a FAIL.

Well if I can’t score a pass why should someone coming here from abroad be able to score better? In fact native Britons who did it are posting their results, and most FAILED!

So why? A lot of the questions are based on dates. The date of when the battle of Agincourt happened for instance, or where places are, for instance Maiden Castle. Some I knew, others, no idea.

I had an education at a comprehensive school. Unlike Gammar schools or places like Eton, we didn’t learn dates by rote. My education was not cramming facts in my head. We had to think.

Anyway, if there is anywhere in the world that would like me, perhaps you could let me know? I feel really sorry for people taking the test. It is biased towards native British who have had a grammar school, or posh university, education!
