Horror films

I don’t do horror films, I think they are illogical and silly. I’m sure I could watch a comedy one, but I get irritated by the serious ones. My hubby watches them and I do some art or read a book…why?

The main character seems to run upstairs when she (usually a woman) is chased. Or goes down into a cellar with a torch that isn’t working properly. Then something horrific happens to a friend who has just called round (in the middle of the night) to see how she is settling in. The result is she hides somewhere silly and dangerous, trying to keep one step ahead of the ‘ghoul’ who has either a mask or makeup to hide their identity. After an hour or so of idiotic chasing where ‘spooky’ activity happens and various other cast members die horrifically being hit on the head with copper saucepans and malt vinegar drownings, eventually she finds the front door (three steps from the bottom of the stairs) escapes, and gets run over and killed by a tractor towing glowing turnips…

Jack Frost?

When I’m not painting or sketching, I’m doodling.

Meet Jack Frost, or the Thorn Fairy depending on the time of year? I don’t know where the idea came from. But nights are getting a bit longer and colder and today seemed really cold in our house. It was so chilly I put a jumper on! Then this evening I looked up at our bedroom window. The top pane was wide open, no wonder it was cold! Hubby admitted it had been open since this morning. We agreed heating the outside atmosphere with our central heating system is not a good idea!

So now Jack Frost is a Thorn Fairy. A useful creature to keep people out of our garden, perhaps!

Had to…

I saw a dragon

Hiding in plain sight

Standing by graffiti

Under a street light

But when I looked away

And looked again

I say!

The dragon it was gone

It decided not to stay!

I just wanted a pic

On my phone

But it was too quick!

So sadly all I have

Is its tail- just the tip

And a shower of loose scales

One of many epic fails!

Goodbye dragon

And now you’re gone!

Scarecrow trail

Penkhull village in Stoke on Trent is holding a scarecrow contest for the Queens Platinum Jubilee. Several people around the village and surrounding streets have created celebratory Scarecrows.

I think there is a prize for the best one and there is a leaflet with a map of the trail. I want to find them! This is British eccentricity!
