I don’t know what I was doing but I know where I was. At Etruria Flint Mill by the Trent and Mersey canal. How do I know? This picture came up on my phone memories. I love the rainbow flies across the sky with one brilliant end behind the chimney. It looks like a multicoloured comet. I Ts interesting how the area of cloud under rainbows looks paler than the area above. It must be part of the optics of rain storms.
After the rain, the rainbow. The base of it was really bright. The rain came down so hard and fast, a river of water came down the hill. The forecast is for possible thunderstorms tomorrow following the arrival of ex hurricane Epsilon in the North Atlantic. There have already been strong winds and the leaves have been flying off the trees. Autumn has arrived with a bang!
When there is heavy rain overhead but a low sun I know there will be a rainbow somewhere. I looked out of the front door and saw this. I got a bit damp and had to change the exposure to get a halfway decent photo. But it came out OK. We also had a few rumbles of thunder, but it’s not been that bad… Last week the rain was far heavier. Tomorrow might be worse.

I love green. I’ve done a painting of myself as a green woman, and this is a selfie I did in the garden today. I was trying to complete a challenge with a group of friends to post an image of myself with different colours of the rainbow. Today the colour was green. I started out wrapping a pale green scarf round my head, but it didn’t work very well, so I went outside and stuck my head through the leaves of various bushes.

A friend who works for the NHS said ” I haven’t seen any as yet but a friend has seen a picture of a rainbow in someone’s window, so, how about we all draw, paint, print one off and put them in our windows?? Something to do if nothing else then as We’re bombing around”….. “in our Ambo we can start counting how many we see!!!
There’s always a rainbow at the end of a Storm and it could show that we are all standing together (2 metres apart lol) to ride this storm out!!!
Then when this IS all over, and it will be, we can all have rainbow parties (any excuse for a knees up!) to celebrate “….
I though what a wonderful idea. I did one of my own which is in my front window now. It may not be much, but it made me feel more positive.

A thin film
Rainbow bright
Smeared on tarmac,
Immiscable,
Like oil and water
They cannot be mixed.
A molecule thick
Sliver of light.
Oil floated on water
Dropped and dripped.
A subtle play of shimmers
A gleam of glimmers,
A ray of sunlight,
Surface spread out like a pancake.
Pollution is washed away
Down drains, into soil.
The colour of oil…..
It’s turned up! I think it’s because I deleted about 80 pictures. The colours are not as intense as I saw them, but cameras and eyes work differently. If I had taken this on film I would have used iso 400 film (I don’t even know if they make it any more). It would have enhanced the depth of colours.
I took a beautiful photo of a very strong, bright, double rainbow, when we were in Llangollen earlier today. It was the best rainbow I’ve ever seen. But my mobile phone is not working well. If I put something on Instagram it duplicates the photo. It also seems to duplicate other photos. I keep having to delete lots of photos (which I did this afternoon after missing the spectacular rainbow). The photos are Mb not Kb. I wish I knew how to change the file sizes. I will have to find out how.
Saw a bright rainbow after a sharp rain shower today. Colours in the sky, split into a spectrum. Broken down town illuminated. Life watered / world renewed.
