Tall dark STRANGER!

I was just walking to the post box when I noticed someone in a dark hoodie and trousers walking behind me. I’d decided to post a letter and I’d left my bag at home as I’d decided not to take any money. But I did have my phone in one pocket and was carrying an umbrella in the other hand.

As I walked I noticed he was keeping up with me because I walk slowly so I expected him to walk past. But no he was close to my left shoulder, I put my hand in my pocket because the phone was protruding slightly.  I stopped to look in a shop window across the road so I turned to look at him. He dawdled past me but I noticed he turned and looked back. I started to walk slowly again and watched him. Every few yards he looked back. So I kept stopping and looking in windows. Finally I got to the post box. He was about fifty yards ahead of me and once again looking back. I waited until he ambled off again. Then I turned around and headed home. As I got to side streets I walked up them and then back down. I only noticed him looking back again once.

I felt anxious about this and it made me quite nervous. The man’s appearance and his activity was strange. Was I right to avoid him?

Phone alarm

Somewhere downstairs my sisters phone alarm is going off. She must still be asleep, but the high pitched tinkling music woke me up and my cats too! I am quite a light sleeper and I have good hearing which doesn’t help. Then on this grey and tinkly morning one of my cats has decided to tunnel down the bed next to me and stick her claws in my knees in order to get a bit of love. Chin and belly rub over she leaps back out of bed. Now I’m awake so I decided to let you know. Perhaps your phone will tinkle or beep and wake you up? X Morning X

Power cut fixed phone

My landline stopped working a few months ago, no matter what I did I couldn’t delete the saved messages and calls. It just said another handset was in use (I don’t have one?).

I had been to the local store to see if they had a similar device, but there was too much choice and I didn’t know what would work as none seemed to have the features I wanted.

Then this morning an alarm went off across the road. This usually signifies a power failure. But my landline phone beeped… I investigated. It said it was synchronising, when it stopped I checked and I could delete everything, calls and answerphone logs. It no longer says Full. I tried ringing it. For the first time in months it rang. Now all I need to do is make sure the memory doesn’t get full. And now I just need to reset the clocks on my stove and alarm clock!

Camera view

Garden

Leaves falling sets the camera off, cats walking past, our reflections in the window. But I don’t care. We can check if someone’s out there. I’m fed up of feeling like a security guard. If I had a camera when our sheds were broken into we might have put them off, or they might have been caught. Now I can check my phone when I get an alert. Just got to figure it out!

Screen time

How do you manage screen time for yourself?

I don’t manage it well, when my hands get tired I put my phone down, or when I watch something on TV. But I think I’m addicted. I like a couple of word games and play them on my phone, then there’s art, and taking photos of things I like.

Currently I’m watching a very old Alfred Hitchcock film from the 1930’s. It’s a romance. TV screen…

Apart from that I’m on a few social media platforms (too many for my own good! ).

To be honest I wish I could turn the clock back and STEP AWAY FROM THE SCREENS!

Your life without a computer: what does it look like?

I do try not to be online all the time, I don’t use a pc or laptop, but who needs them when you’ve got a phone? I think sometimes my brain is permanently plugged in…..

It’s those little hits of seratonin? They give you a brief hit of pleasure, and if I am not blogging or drawing digitally I feel empty.

But I know it’s not good for me, I find myself following vlogs and different pages and sites. I’ve got worse since I hurt my leg, and I know as I recuperate I need to do more physical things. I have to take the phone though, to measure my steps!

Things I would do without a computer.

Not get lost, I can read maps,

Not miss my favourite TV shows

Get more exercise

Go to my studio

Actually paint and draw with real, physical art supplies!

Meet with friends more.

Phone numbers

How do I arrange transport to a hospital appointment?

Rang the doctors.. Ring 01……..

I rang 01…….this is not the right number, we don’t cover that area. Ring 02……

So I rang 02….for A dial 1, for B dial 2 for C dial 3 etc…

Selected 3…..yes we can help but we don’t transport people in the afternoon. Please try and rearrange your appointment.

What number do I ring? 04……

Rang 04……..for blah you need to ring 05……

Patience running out…

Rang 05……for blah press 1, for blah blah press 2….

Pressed 2, you are number 6 in the queue. We are extremely busy and it may take up to 45 minutes to answer your call, if you are on hold for longer than that you may be cut off….

You are number 3 in the queue…. You are number 1 in the queue.

Good afternoon, how can I help? My appointment is on Wednesday afternoon but transport don’t do late afternoon appointments as they might not be able to take me home.

OK let’s rearrange that. I have an appointment for eight weeks time?

I might be better by then.

I can offer you one tomorrow but transport might not be able to arrange things at short notice.

I’ll have the eight week one but I might not need transport by then.

Tried ringing transport 05…….

Ten minutes later… I’ll try in the morning!

Experimenting again, Artrage app

Another couple of drawings/experiments, I do love learning and playing with art, but then I want to know how do I optimise my photos on my phone? My old antivirus used to do it, but now I’ve changed phones I can’t seem to work out what to do.

Should I use something in settings, or will there be an optimiser in my gallery. It’s worrying because my media here keeps telling me it’s full. When I upload optimised photos it’s not as bad. And along th e same lines, how do I sync my phone and my PC? It would help sort things out….

Fixed!

After a month of having no email I managed to restore it on my PC at the weekend. I had over 3000 emails to delete (mainly WordPress notifications!) I had also taken my phone to the phone shop again last week and the technician said he had fixed it. When it didn’t display any emails whilst I was in the shop he said not to worry, it would take 24 hours to show up? This seemed to me like I was being fobbed off, but I gave it 24, then 48 hours, and as it was a bank holiday on Monday I knew the shop would be closed it was 72 hours, and no sign of the emails!

So I decided to try and sort it out for myself. If the email wasn’t coming through the server for the phone perhaps I could get it on an app? I decided to download my email providers app and install it. Then I typed in my password and verified it through the system… And…. It worked! Now it’s working I’m trying to understand why the shop technician hadn’t done that? I will be having a word with him!

Why?

Some of my icons on my phone are a horrible browny bronze. I wish I could find out how to change them. I’ve looked at themes and I can change the background but not the icons. I’d like to set my own but I have no idea how. Does anyone know how to change the settings? Is it simple or very complicated. Meh, it’s a first world problem! Ignore me.

It’s funny how you can be so attached to your phone that it makes such an impact your life!
