Child’s mural

FB_IMG_1581620688148

I did this mural of Mr Incredible about nine or ten years ago for someone’s son. The paint is acrylic because it’s easy to apply and dries within hours. I think it’s also quite stable. I used clear matt varnish over it and left about a centimeter margin of varnish all around the figure so the paint would not lift off. I’ve recently done a new mural for the family in their new house. I found out recently that my original murals (there were three others, Batman, Spiderman, and Superman) were painted over. Sad I know, but at least I gave some fun to the family while they were there.

Teapot at the potbank..

FB_IMG_1581620772970

Photo my friend took on February 2018, I think it was up until 2019. Its also been exhibited at the Waiting Room Gallery. I liked doing these pottery ‘portraits’, but they are imagined, using pottery patterns and marrying them up with teapots or plates or bowls etc. It’s also about creating imagined backgrounds.

Acrylic on canvas, created, 2018, for sale…

Wishes

DSC_1163

Oh wish tree, oh wish tree.

What can you do for me?

Can you turn the world around?

Can you make my life more sound?

Wish tree, wish tree

Make the world more clean and free,

Give the poorest food to eat,

Take away all cruelty.

Cool the worlds excessive heat.

Make compassion mandatory.

Ask the rich to balance out

The split between them and the poor

Make them pay a small amount,

Wish tree let them pay some more,

To make reducing poverty count.

That is all I really want.

Wish tree let my wishes free,

Give a chance for you and me.

He’s still here..

20191116_150801

The abandoned cat that we have been looking after is still here. There was a couple who almost took him, but decided we were too attached to him for them to take him. He still lives in the shed because we have two indoor cats who won’t get in their cat basket to be inoculated! Hence cats staring at each other through the cat flap. The outdoor cat has a box surrounded by straw to help keep him snug. But we decided to put a small electric oil heater in the shed to help keep him warm on very cold nights. He can get in and out, and because there is nothing of value in the shed we are happy to leave the door slightly ajar. Hopefully by later this year he will be rehomed x

They are building

They  (whoever they are) are building on the other side of the main road, beyond the shops that are near our garden. I knew the plans were for houses, but the thing across the road is taller by far than the ones surrounding it and is about four stories high. It wasn’t there last week. It appeared on Friday or Saturday. I looked out the window upstairs to see the dawn and there it was! Blocking the view. Once we have the hedge cut people who move in will be able to see into my kitchen and living room windows! I was thinking of having the trees thinned to let in more light, it feels like it won’t be worth it. Maybe I’m over reacting? I haven’t seen any plans of what it’s going to look like. I think our neighbours who live on the main road opposite it have moved out, perhaps because she felt overlooked? Oh well I guess it’s good to have new things happening.

Doodles from 2018. Unizeb and Pegazeb?

Sometimes I go a bit mad, these two were drawn in the sketcher free app, using the ribbon tool on it. I don’t use it very often anymore.

Horses are portrayed as mythical, but why not Zebras? The blue/turquoise make a good background. With the pens set to make a pattern like wirework. I wanted something dramatic and interesting.

I thought it was cold.

I thought it was cold. Now it’s snowing! It hasn’t snowed in months. Since last year… Cars coming down the hill with hazard warning lights on. Luckily not slipping or sliding. The flakes are huge fluffy things. In an hour two inches have fallen. And the silence, the quiet that you get when snow falls. It muffled everything. Makes the world seem less busy. Now I’m going to put the heating on… For a bit…..

Cold

_20200210_123927

Oh its a bit cold today. There is sleet falling and its very grey overhead. I’m sitting shivering a bit, I have to pay my fuel bills soon and I’m trying to minimise how much I use. So the heating is on a timer and I’m wearing a cardigan to keep warm. The temperature inside is about 17°C (outside its about 5°C). But it’s been another mild winter. It’s only been frosty a few times and we’ve had no lying snow. I’ve got things to do so I can leave the heating off till later. When I was younger I wasn’t bothered by the cold. I lived in house with no central heating, and we just had single glazing. So I’m a lot better off than I used to be.

I do think about the majority of the people on the planet who are not as lucky as me. It’s a sad situation where a few billionaires can have as much money as half the earth’s population. In the meantime my hubby just turned a light on, but left one on in the kitchen…. Bah humbug!
