Influenced by my friend,
I don’t live near trees
Or mountains,
I live in a city,
Where the Christmas trees are few.
But she woke up my mind,
She shook my thoughts,
She made me happy.
She made me paint.

Autumn drawing
Just a doodle using the winter tree idea but with autumn leaves. The base is meant to be pebbles and rocks with a mountain stream running below the tree. Faces of spirits again populate the tree. I think they would be more aggressive or annoyed than the winter one, Im not sure why. Perhaps the cold autumn winds are getting on their nerves! I love the dark crystal film and the creatures in there, maybe that’s what’s influencing me?

Does the white cat look realistic enough? The others are OK, I think. I’m just thinking if calling these done and moving on to something new. Got to get organised…
New ideas for paintings
They might not look like much yet, but I’ve just blocked in three small painting that I sketched out over the weekend. The middle one is of a cat curled up on an armchair. The chair will be covered in a holly pattern.the cat on the window ledge will have a blue and white vase next to it, and the pottery is an imagined view in the snow,
I’ve got a busy week so I might not be able to get online much. Also I’ve got toothache!
Ideas for paintings
Sketching designs for winter paintings that can still be good to have on the walls all year round. I’ve seen a painting with a pottery in the snow, so I’m going to do something similar with Holly and Ivy. The second idea is a cat on a windowledge with a blue and white vase next to it.
Will try and get them painted this week.

Well I did it! The painting is long and thin, so I might add something to the lower third of the painting….
I keep coming back to this!
Oh I don’t know! I can’t decide. Done a little sketch to think about it. I like doing surreal things, it’s hard to get it right but it can work….. Anyway I’m going to finish my lion painting and will come back to this….
Having a sketchbook
I’ve been taking my sketchbook with me recently because of doing the one inch drawing challenge. That’s meant that I have drawn pictures as well as photographing them.
Yesterday I was looking at autumn trees in front of black and white buildings (the architecture looks like its from the 1920’s or 30’s.) Sturdy, tall trees were starting to colour up as autumn starts to bite. The branches were swaying and soughing in the wind. This is a season I can relate too. It’s sometimes quiet and misty, other times dramatic. That’s what I enjoyed about drawing it. Trying to bring a bit of that drama into it. You can’t draw every individual leaf in a ten or fifteen minute sketch, but you can try and add movement.
For information I used an a6 sketchpad and a unipin fine line pen size 0.8.

Winter tree
I’m doing winter paintings now. First one started, winter tree. I’m trying to get the twigs and snow correct. Just working from a random free photo off the Internet as we don’t have anything as picturesque as this in the area, plus of course its raining not snowing! More later…
Finished paintings
Finished paintings delivered to the Waiting room gallery today. They are going to be part of the “Home is Where the Art is” exhibition starting soon. Now I need to work on paintings for the Brampton Christmas sale exhibition. I’ve only got a week to get some appropriate work done. I might also find out about getting some cards made from my images.
