Toe sorted out, went to a private chiropodists. Just got to let it settle down for a couple of days. This is the ‘before’ photo. He cut off the broken bit and trimmed my nails. Just after I got this appointment I got a call from the NHS podiatrists saying they could see me later today. I felt really guilty but I’d spent the night with my toes wrapped up and I didn’t get much sleep. I decided to stick with the appointment I’d made. I don’t like booking things then not turning up!
After spending three hours searching for plasters… I found them. I’ve put one lengthwise over my toe to protect it. To hold the loose bit of my toenail in place. I tried to put another one round three toes but it didn’t work so I’ve resorted to Masking tape. It hurts but I didn’t want to leave it loose because when I go to bed the sheets will catch on it. Ouchie!
We had a walk last night up and down hill so I decided to have a flat walk this morning. One of my feet hurt, but I thought it was just a bit of an ache from yesterday. We walked very slowly round the lake because it hurt. I felt miserable but we stopped for a hot drink and I felt a bit better.
It was only when I took my shoe off that I saw I had split one of my small toenails from the end down to the quick, it’s sort of hanging off (I’m not showing a photo of it). I rang my podiatrists but they are short staffed and everyone is fully booked. I rang my GP (General Practitioner) but they have no one to deal with it. Waiting for a phone call or I might have to make a private appointment. Thank goodness the car passed its MOT, I might just be able to afford it! Hubby said he will get a pair of pliers if I wanted! No!
I’ve noticed my big toes are hurting again. They really are sore and when I try and sleep at night I have to pull the covers off them because the pressure of the duvet on them hurts and keeps me awake. Then I have to try and cover them up a bit because they get cold!
I was diagnosed with gout in my feet, then thumb a couple of years ago but I forgot. I’ve got quite a few things wrong with me and I don’t always remember all of them. I just keep taking the tablets. I hope I don’t moan about things too much, but sometimes things are maddening. But insomnia is debilitating, anything that can help me get to sleep and stay asleep would be good. Sometimes meditation takes my mind off things, perhaps I will try that tonight…
Our cat looked cute, but hubbies foot in a sandal was in the top right corner of the picture. I decided to try and hide it. I used my sketch app on my phone. Using the ‘chalk’ pen tool and the colour picker option. I carefully chose colours that corresponded with the parts of the mat that needed redrawing. I also drew over a metal tin that was in the bottom right of the picture. The chalk option was good because it gives a more mottled pattern to the mat. It’s not perfect but I’m reasonably happy.
When you take a photo of your work and post it in Instagram… Don’t include your foot! I was trying to take a photo of my necklaces on display at the waiting room gallery at Longport, Stoke-on-Trent. I’m pleased to say I have sold two necklaces and a small painting. It’s taken six months, but now they can allow people in again it might do better. I may arrange to make some more pieces.
I’m writing something first incase you don’t like feet…
My chiropodist a appointment was due but I haven’t heard anything. Being diabetic I get them done professionally by the local health centre because of the risk of cutting myself. I can only just reach my toenails. But then I struggle to see what I’m doing. My nails were about 1/3″ long and very uncomfortable, but when I rang I was told that the podiatrist is not seeing anyone. Given my hubby is not very handy or careful, and my sister lives eighty miles away, I ‘had a go’ I’ve just managed to cut them a little and shorten them. Then I found a foot file to take the brittle sharp edges away. I’ve sort of made the image a bit abstract so it doesn’t look as scary. The nails are still quite long… 😕
