Playing with filters

I used coloured overlays and an added image of the previous collaged photo on top of this. I like the complexity and that the Christmas tree looks a bit like an insects head.

When I get fed up I like to play with images, creating something new, learning, and keeping myself occupied.

I used the incollage app and photodirector to create this.

Paintings for a friend

Over several months a friend has been collecting some of my smaller paintings. She sent me this photo of them yesterday and it struck me how varied they are!

The galleon painting has gold paint on it to give a feeling of the sunlight reflecting back up onto the reverse of the sails.

The small painting of the woman in the woods was taken from a photo from a friend, I loved the atmospheric feeling of it and tried to evoke the colours of autumn.

The dragon is based on an image that I had created for my college piece on the mythology of dragons. I had drawn and designed a children’s book and this was one of the ideas I used for it.

I’m so pleased my art is being appreciated, I love being creative and it keeps me going. X

Cataracts

What is one thing you would change about yourself?

My eyes are going fuzzy round the edges… My central vision is OK. I’m allowed to drive but I’m wearing sunglasses at night when I drive because it limits the glare from other cars headlights. My optician is monitoring them as eventually I should be able to have an operation to remove them. It’s making fine details difficult to see and it’s getting very frustrating.

Need more miniatures!

I’ve sold half of my miniatures in the last couple of days, I’m only charging £2 and the canvases are 80 pence so it’s hardly a goldmine, but I’m enjoying people liking them! So now I need more of them to paint. I’ll try and get some done this week!

I think they make nice Christmas presents or stocking fillers. X

At Orme Art Group Exhibition

Today’s Exhibition was good. I put some work on display that I hadn’t shown with the group before and I got a good response. I also had small paintings for sale and I was painting a few replacements as the day went on. I was pleased to be able to paint despite my arm shaking. Somehow I managed it. I now have four new miniature canvases along with the original ones.

Open day went well

Not my studio….

It’s my neighbours across the corridor. I wish I had that view but my studio is window free, which means it’s easier to heat! A few people came in and said how toasty and warm it was. I sold a couple of paintings from there and a few miniatures in the makers market. But most of all I liked asking people if they were artists, or if they enjoyed it. I enthused to parents to get their children involved in art. It was a good day.

In studio 21

Eclectic

I’m going to a spode Open day tomorrow, when I went to the studio I realised how much art I have. It’s a case of loving painting too much, but not being a salesperson! If you see anything you like let me know I guess? You could always visit me. I will be in Spode studio 21 if the wooden cat is outside my door!

Foxy

Six years ago I was painting tiny little matchbox sized pictures. I don’t make much money off them, but I guess a few more people can have examples of my art. I love nature, so some of the subjects are foxes and owls, fish, and other animals. I must do some more. I have a couple of craft fairs/exhibitions this weekend, I need to get my act together and paint, but looking after my hubby is time consuming.
