New paintings and regular art updates.

#bandofsketchers prompt on Thursday was collection. I didn’t know what to do so I decided to sketch my cat ornaments. Bit random but I was trying to simplify them. I just used coloured felt pens and avoided using black outlines.

My black and white cat is very good at hiding. He’s not allowed out because he’s having treatment for his eye. It does mean that I have to let the other two out carefully. We are keeping the door between the kitchen and backdoor closed. Except when hubby forgets. Last night he was going to bed. I asked him to check the cat was upstairs. He shouted down he wasn’t (he’s got a couple of good hiding places). So hubby went out in the rain to see if he could see the cat. I stood and called at the back door. Hubby came back, no sign. But the cat usually comes when I call. I promised to whistle and shout for him every hour or so to see if he would come back. But all that happened was the other two cats popped in and out. After hours of not sleeping, but going to the back door regularly and calling and rattling food… At five thirty am he CAME DOWNSTAIRS! ate some cat food and fell asleep on top of the settee and I could finally rest!

If I had to choose his name
I would call him Jupiter.
He is twice as big as the others
Strong markings
He thinks everything
Revolves around him.
He has gravity
He causes storms
He has a great spot
On his nose!
He eats passing objects
He comes out at night.
Jupiter it is!

He’s much better! His chest had to be shaved so the vets could take a blood test, but his kidneys are OK now. The vets also created a serum from his blood that is usdd as an eyedrop. The white blood cells in it help him absorb medication to help heal the ulcers in his eye. His mouth has healed and the damage they thought was a lesion was a burn that was probably caused by whatever toxic substance that he had got on his fur.
I’m so happy that he’s recovering, the vets are pleased with his progress. He isn’t let out although he has snuck out a couple of times. He will get some freedom when he is fully well.

This was the cats eye ten days ago. It’s much improved with the use of lots of eye drops. It’s now the proper colour and looks more transparent. The vet is pleased with his progress. They took a blood sample and centrifuged some of the cats serum from it. I am to use it for the next three days as it will help absorbtion of his other eye drops.
I had to drive him to the vets myself because the taxi I ordered didn’t turn up! It was booked for ten minutes before the vets appointment because its only a mile down the road. But at 3.24 pm I rang the taxi firm. No answer, I let it ring for five minutes.
So I tried getting in our car and when I managed to without hurting myself I decided to drive it in second gear to the vets. I stayed in second all the way.
Finally home after an hour I found a message on my phone from the taxi firm. They had rung at 4.42pm, twelve minutes after the appointment, I sent a text to apologise. I don’t know exactly what I could have done differently.

Me to hubby ‘shut the kitchen door please’
Him, ‘why?’
Me, ‘the cat will get out.’
He doesn’t shut it
Cat gets out
Hubby has to search for cat in neighbouring gardens.
Hubby gets scratched by brambles and cat.
Me ‘grrrrr!’
Why don’t people listen. It’s obvious what’s going to happen. It’s worrying because the cat is due at the vets this afternoon, will it get out again!?

Cat made up of tiny purple hearts.
He looks on happily
Proud and smug
He’s the boss
Whiskered and neat
Pure white feet
Sneaked out today
Lying in the neighbours yard
In the bright, late summer sun.
Wouldn’t come when called.
Puncture wounds?
In hubby’s arms
Cats claws leave scars
But he is safe.
Vets bill again
Tomorrow.

Take a photo of your cats eye said the vet on Tuesday. Then we will be able to compare how it’s changing.
Good idea, the cat injured its eye when it disappeared (trapped in a shed /garage) and they need to know if it’s improving. But, my cat keeps closing his eyes when I go near. Either in a friendly way, or because I’m advancing on him with eye drops.
So, all I can say is that it is improving slowly. He’s avoided having the drops a few times and he’s managed to lick out the antibiotic tablets I’m giving him a few times. It’s frustrating but I just have to do what I can. X

Tuesdays #bandofsketchers prompt was based on the prompt ‘reflection’. I hadn’t got much time, so I based this on a mirrored photo of one of my cats, the little female one.
I took the liberty of changing the colour to hold with different patterns on each cats coat. The hearts are for how much I love my cats, I also feel it looks a bit like a playing card.

Since he came home, I’ve had to give my cat eye drops and antibiotics. Every day he sits a bit further away from me. He is a bit more wary, nervous. It’s not surprising. Yesterday he was checked over by a vet and given another lot of antibiotics. I understand why, he needs them to help him heal. But it doesn’t make it any easier. If he wasn’t such a patient cat I don’t know what I would have done…. X
