I don’t have a clue how to use this. It’s just been imposed on me. I’ve tried clicking on classic editor but have no idea what all the symbols mean. I’m in the middle of coursework for college and don’t have time for this. I love blogging but would consider leaving. I would save myself money. But I don’t want to give up. I’m persistent if nothing else.

Caterpillar on our Nasturtium plants. I’m not sure what it is but I don’t mind, it’s good to see any life in our garden.
We’ve had a few butterflies. I think I saw a fratillery (not sure of spelling) last week but it flew off before I could get a photo. It was white with brown spots and circles on it.
Not gardening today. Windy and wet and I did a long walk yesterday so my knees are aching. X
Five thirty am Friday. Had a frantic day yesterday getting my stuff submitted to college. Followed by a five mile walk (not walked that far for years), then called in Sawadee Thai taste for a snack so didn’t get home till late. My legs are aching so much it woke me up. Don’t have any pages left in sketchbooks so drew this on a blank card.
Thursdays prompt was bathroom or bedroom for urban sketchers Stoke-on-Trent challenge. Well I’m late because it’s Friday. But at least I did something. Note to self buy more sketchbooks.

I went for a walk today. Over to the Trent and Mersey canal to Etruria, then down the arm of the Cauldon canal to Hanley Park, through the park and down into Stoke and home. That is the furthest I have walked for years. I think I was scared of walking and distance. I am learning I can do it…. Next week I want to walk six miles up our steep hill. My friend went on to go a bit further, but I needed a rest. My feet hurt.
I’ve been up till 4am two nights this week, including this morning. Ive had to ring the IT service to wrangle PowerPoint and Word documents into pdfs then had to merge the documents together ( thank you smallpdf website). then I uploaded lots of work to the college website.
So coming here has been a bit of an impossibility over the last couple of days. The imposition of “blocks” which has more options than my alphabet, has also added to my stress and anxiety… and the fact I’m paying for this service is not forgotten.
I think that professional writers might like it. I can see that you could produce really interesting spreads, but really? I’m sure a lot of us are much less bothered about adding collages or audio, a cover (why?). What’s a pullquote? a Hero? SyntaxingHighlighter Code (FFS!)

I just wrote a post about submitting my college work because I have been up till 4 am the last couple of nights.
I typed it all up, the college work, then had to convert a PowerPoint presentation to PDF. I rang the college IT section and they explained how, and thank you “smallpdf” website for helping me merge documents…
But WordPress blocks is harder than that , There are more blocks than an alphabet. I typed up some names of them on my first post, but that disappeared. I cant do it all again, too tired.
Anyway my college work got in before the deadline, so i might be here a bit more, but the pleasure has gone out of it….
I was rummaging around the front bedroom where I’m doing my college work and found a sketchbook that I did when was on my foundation art course.
These are etchings, created on metal plates by painting areas with a varnish and then putting the plates in an acid bath to etch away the surface. Then to get more detail you can cover more of the plate with varnish or a wax resist. Acid bath again, rinsing it off before adding more wax or varnish. You can also use something called aquatint which gives you an interesting background. I’m remembering this from over 40 years ago. So I might not have it right. Eventually you ink up the plates and place them onto paper which you then put in a press and squash them together. These are the result.
