Repair tape

This morning the bottom door shelf of my fridge collapsed when I put the milk carton back in it. When I checked the bump on the door that sticks out had broken off…! I looked at the broken piece. It was about a centimeter by three centimeters and stuck out by about half a centimetre, but it wasn’t solid. It was only about half a millimeter thick and it looks like the whole inside door panel is just vaccuum formed!

Wnhat to do? I tried an epoxy glue but it wasn’t holding it. I put the shelf back in place but you could see the crack where it was pulling away. I’m NOT going to buy a new fridge (shades of my broken door catch). So I went out and bought some transparent repair tape. It’s not pretty, I can’t get the tape very flat, but it’s holding, for now.

Frost

Frost on the bonnet of my car. How does it grow like that? Feathers created by a mysterious creature called Jack Frost. Water frozen in amazing patterns, crystallising into flakes or swirls or swooping spirals. Beauty in nature, patterns from tiny water molecules.

This photo is from a couple of years ago. I haven’t seen frost like this, this winter. We have has snow, and some passing frosts, but nothing to build up a deep layer of ice like this. I would love to try and draw it if it happens again, particularly when it builds up on the windscreen of my car…

Cat keeps me awake

Two am…

Two am, or three am or four am….. He wakes up on the bed and asks to go out. Well actually he comes and lies on top of me, then taps me with his paws. That’s fine, I’d rather he asked than had an accident. My indoor cats have litter trays but he doesn’t like that. I can’t open the cat flap or my indoor cats might get out.

But then, at seven am my little girl cat gets her claws under the duvet and scratches at me! I’m under the thrall of my cats! Goodnight!
