Today’s #bandofsketchers prompt was idyllic. Today I was sitting feeling sorry for myself, then my hubby asked me to draw a seahorse like I had drawn on the beach last week. So today’s drawing is a Seahorse from my imagination, it would be idyllic to see a mythological beast like this. Used an old black felt pen because it gave nice soft lines…
The nights are ‘drawing in’, Autumn (fall) starts officially on Wednesday this week. The weather is set to get colder. There will be a change to it, mist and fogs are due, rain and wind, even some storms.
This photo was taken a few nights ago, high pressure over the UK and a red sky in the evening indicating settled warm weather.
Even if we had long term weather forecasts they are never that accurate here in the UK. The air over us is unstable, affected by the ocean, the Arctic, weather over Europe and coming in from the East over Russia. If you want interesting, rapidly changing weather come to the UK.
Still sore😢 after pulling a muscle in my calf. I can’t climb steps so I slept in an armchair. I found it easier to walk sideways like a crab! When I overstretch it really hurts so I’m shuffling like an old lady!
Does anyone know how long this will hurt for? I have so much to do. It is extremely frustrating! I keep having to stretch my leg a bit to stop me seizing up but then it hurts again. I’m really tired.
Hours have passed

I saw a post on Facebook today saying you have to have a high IQ to read upside down. I don’t think that’s true. I learnt in my childhood. I can’t remember exactly when. I can remember seeing my teachers notes, which was useful and I guess that I practiced doing it later on. I also used to look at text in the mirror, probably after hearing about Leonardo Da Vinci. Strange what you do as a child. Maybe it’s inquisitiveness, maybe pattern recognition?
Today’s #bandofsketchers prompt was ‘layers’. I didn’t have a clue. I’m sitti g here with my leg up with a pulled calf muscle. I could only think of hens laying eggs, so I imagined a couple of them in a barn. I did take a look at Google after I struggled with how the head looks. It isn’t bad….
Pulled my calf muscle trying to walk up a grassy slope while I was out singing at Burslem Port. I had a lift on Kay and Steve’s oatcake boat along the canal to Hanley then was driven home by Mark in our car. Richard, Mark and Ivan all helped me get about. Thanks to Kate, Greg, the staff and volunteers at Burslem. Everybody else for looking after me. I will have to try and get Roberts walking stick back to him. I’ve found stepping sideways is easier than trying to go forwards. I think upstairs is out of bounds at the moment. I hope I will be able to get around again and start walking in a few days. Glad I avoided an ambulance and A&E! Photo is a bag of frozen quorn tied against my calf muscle!
At Trentham Gardens today.
Red leaves on plants at Trentham Gardens today. Usually leaves are green but these have a strong red colour. The light shines through them giving them a glow. I remember hearing about other plant colours that happen in autumn. The green chlorophyll is absorbed back into the plant (usually a tree) and other underlying pigments that help to phosynthesise carbon dioxide and water to join together into simple sugars that can then be transformed into cellulose and other plant structures.
As the chlorophyll is absorbed, red phycobilins, yellow xanthophylls and orange carotenes are left in the leaves giving Autumn colours. This usually happens as the temperature cools and the plants start to store food and chemicals for winter.
I don’t know if these plants are doing thus? They remind me of the colours that are found in Swiss Chard.
Random inflated lobster seen three years ago at Shipley in North Yorkshire. It was a giant of the species. I think there was a food festival on? But as Shipley is well inland I don’t think it was from a fishing fleet!
I love the two wheel cart it sits on, presumably to move it around? Would it have been in a parade of giant shellfish? I don’t know… Crabs moving sideways, Oysters opening and closing, massive pearls shining in the sun.
Bright red, ike a post box. It must represent a cooked lobster… Poor thing…
