Close-up poppy

I think this might be finished but I’m waiting for daylight to check the colours. I might tone down the white and I may add some blue tones to make it feel like the sky is being reflected in it. The poppy was real, but I took this from a painting I did of a photo so I might look at some images of poppies.

Bright idea

I keep getting told I should try and get some of my designs printed on tee shirts. I love colour and patterns and I just keep creating them. Some of them are tweaked digitally, some are drawings in sketchbooks, others are digital patterns. I have thousands of drawings. My brain just keeps going on and on and on…..

Autumn leaves

Autumn leaves leave the trees, wind blows and bowls them along the gutters. They flutter madly, sadly the end of summer edges away.

Sunshine strikes through low, dark grey clouds. Holds my eye as light streams by. Sky shimmers blue, high domed hue. Birds are leaving, wings weaving across the air.

Full of delicious fruit, trees reveal their loot of apples, pears, and sweet chestnuts fair. Mists and frosts, with mushrooms and toadstools found in field and woods.

Nature’s good, it gives and takes. It feeds at harvest time, crops gathered in, the end of summer win. And all the time, those leaves spin.

Door

Tuesdays #bandofsketchers prompt was door. So I drew a hobbit style door to cheer myself up. Felt pen and black ink fine line pen. The door would be solid oak and a neat flower bed would be planted on either side of it. I love the story the Lord of the Rings, I’m not sure about the films, but I have a set of cassette tapes that have the Lord of the Rings radio series that was broadcast by the BBC in about 2000?

Doodlicious

Some strange creature or plant. A combination of broccoli and alveoli perhaps? A few added leaves, contours, scales. Zig zaging power lines. Light and shade, using different thickness of pen lines. Giving depth in places. You don’t have to stick to one line, you can vary it. Experience and experiment. Trying to learn.

A few cat photos

Two of my cats, the big one and the medium one. Both very happy, the little one has gone outside. The sun’s been shining and their coats are gleaming in the light. The big cat came up and tried to sniff the phone as I took his photo, you can really see how that affects the view, making his head look a lot larger than his body. I love looking after my moggies. They make me feel a lot happier.

Partial Eclipse

There is a partial eclipse across Europe tomorrow. 25.10.2022. Don’t look up at the sun unless you have proper eclipse glasses. It can burn your retinas and blind you because of ultra violet radiation. But one thing you can do is look at the ground, either in a puddle and yo may see a reflection, or if you stand under a tree that’s in leaf you may see images projected on the ground that look like crescent moons. These are images of the sun as the moon partly glides across it. The reason for the images? The leave are acting like a pinhole camera.

Spider, beware!

I don’t mind spiders, snakes or bugs

Sometimes I like to give them hugs.

At Halloween I feel quite itchy

When creepy crawlies make me twitchy.

Arachnophobia, I hear you say?

But give those bugs another day.

They eat up flies, or rotting veg

You find around the gardens edge.

This silly poem now must end

A witches cauldron, over it I bend.
