Soft coffee
Warm and creamy
A beverage, dreamy
Drink to warm
In cold weather
Makes a delicious
Thirst quencher.
Why write about it?
A conversation starter
Over coffee
Adds to frendship
When we meet.
Helps us greet.

Dessert is in the fridge. Well half, we have already had some for tea. It’s a trifle made of sugar free blackberry jelly with gelatine (not jam) with added raspberries and port. Topped with chocolate blancmange and whipped double cream.
It’s all sugar free so although it’s got fat and carbs in it, it’s not bad for sugar content. I try not to eat cake or biscuits, but this with fresh fruit in is lovely. I sometimes use strawberry or orange flavour jelly. You can also make it with sherry instead of port or alcohol free. Sometimes you can use sponge fingers in the jelly to make it stronger. It has to support the weight of the top two layers. But I don’t use that because they are too sweet. And some people add a layer of custard instead of blancmange, which us increasingly difficult to get hold of unless you buy it online. If you make it I hope you enjoy it. X

I’ve fallen into a bad habit, I’ve started to watch a lot of Facebook videos, one after the other. My phone keeps showing me hairdressing videos, five minute crafts, films about Agate, car crashes, American politics, police stopping cars. The trouble is its easier to watch one after the other rather than whole TV shows. Part of it is because hubby likes watching train and war films. I get bored by whether the train is running on narrow or standard gauge or even broad gauge. I don’t want to know the difference between tanks and armoured cars. I don’t want to know which general won what battle. So the phone videos have increased, which I think might be impacting on my arm problems. I don’t think I’m addicted, but it’s keeping my mind off things….

I just found this under a cupboard! It’s my old phone. Goodness knows how old it is, I don’t know if the battery will have corroded it inside. I’m thinking of finding out if it can be refurbished as my hubby doesn’t like smart phones and just wants something basic to ring home if he needs to. I will try and find out if it can somehow be upgraded to work on the right sort of signal. It must be several years old? Are they worth anything? So it’s not smart, but is it fixable?

He came in out the rain, jumped up on the chair arm and flopped down next to me. Head hanging down by my knee. So comfortable and relaxed. He wasn’t fully asleep though. As soon as I took his photo he decided to move.
All three of our cats were within a few feet of each other earlier on. I think it’s because we are just having a couple of heaters on in the living room to save energy. So they are huddling a bit to keep warm. Mi d you I’ve got the living room light on for a change. Sometimes it’s like living in a cave when we just have a couple of lamps on. I can imagine myself doing paintings of cats on the walls, like cave paintings. X

I think seeing the white rabbit picture this week pushed some memories forward from the back of my mind…
Some of them I haven’t recalled since my childhood, and I don’t know if anyone else remembers them. I can remember two fully…
Jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a pail of water,
Jack fell down and broke his crown, and Jill came tumbling after.
Up Jack got, and home did trot, as fast as he could caper.
He went to bed, to mend his head with vinegar and brown paper!
And…
See-saw Marjorie Daw
Jenny will have a new master
She shall earn but a penny a day
Because she can’t work any faster!
These are memories from the 1960’s. Boy I feel old. I wish I could fully remember Oranges and Lemons, said the bells of St Clements. Or George Porgie, pudding and pie…
It’s funny what you have contained in that greyish pink blancmange called your brain. It can hold information that has slurped about inside it for decades. Like I think I know the triumvirate in the Russian revolution was Kaminev, Zinoviev and Trotsky (I learnt it for history and it stuck).
Memory is strange and sometimes randow. But as they say, we are our memories, and our experiences teach us how to manage life.

Look out
See what’s about
Use your eyes
Don’t be surprised
Glasses are good
For seeing the mood
Of someone’s face
At more than a pace!
Sight is the winner
Lighter, and dimmer
Through fire and snow
You can see the glow
With my little eye
Just what do I spy?!
A very silly verse
Which could have been worse!

I am fed up of decaff coffee, I want a cold drink. Maybe some ginger beer or diet tonic water. I have ice so I can cool it down. But its still winter so I might have a blackcurrant or orange cordial with hot water. Or orange juice with water to dilute it. That’s very soothing, and I choose the ones with low sugar. I might even share a bottle of beer with my hubby. I don’t know, but something less boring than decaff? Maybe a cup of tea.

#bandofsketchers prompt on Thursday was mountain, instead of my usual felt pen drawing I created layers of sketching over an initial photo that I had put through some filters on my phone.

Trees and roots and cars reflected in a photo, then filtered digitally in various ways. I have buzzing ears today so I don’t want to spend a long time describing what I’ve done to the photo. I could say my whistling ears have been partly responsible for this, undulating noise, like a tide whispering in and out, and the picture seems to be covered in dirty ice that lumps up over the surface? Anyway, it’s just an experiment for today. A bit of synesthesia perhaps?
