Cat college work

Some ideas for a college three square narrative. I had to put a portfolio together a few weeks ago. I decided to draw a cat trying to overcome a cat flap. This was based on one of my cats actually breaking the plastic flap because he’s too big and strong! (not the cat that’s gone missing). The big cat is very determined. He wouldn’t be deterred by a closed cat flap. He couldn’t get out by pushing it forward so I saw him pull the flap towards him with a claw, then pull it upwards till he could get his nose underneath and get out that way!

Gone, not gone?

My heart hurts

I miss you so much

I stroke your shadow

In my imagination

The way you purred

And pranced

Jumped high

Balanced like a gymnast

My podgy puddy cat

Leaned back and looked up

Paw high

Reaching

Waiting to nuzzle my hand

My memories

My dreams

You are still there.

Like Schrodinger’s Cat

Gone, not gone?

Lingering

Not come home.

I still don’t know where my cat has gone. We went for a walk yesterday evening with our cat carrier. If we saw him in someone’s window or garden we were going to knock on their door and demand they give him back!

Sadly that didn’t happen. I feel more and more despondent. There is an empty space in the house and in my mind. The way he ran up and jumped on the back of the settee with a purrow! The way he came into the bathroom in the morning and greeted me with head butt’s and cheek rubs. I miss him. Hubby misses him. If he has died because of his heart condition I want to be able to say goodbye.

Sorry, just so sad….

Cat doodle

The cat was washing so I drew him. I decided to add contours instead of shading it in completely black. This follows on from my previous line drawing of bar code.. Similar principle. I like drawing convoluted lines. This was with a black fine line pen. The lines give it a different shape to how the fur would lie.

Claws and whiskers

Reaching, stretching, paws up, claws out. But he’s only saying hello.

Just look at those whiskers, able to twitch and feel. Helps with moving around in the dark. Used to check a space is wide enough to get through. Pushed forward when he’s interested in something, sniffing and smelling his food or a cat nip toy.

Claws ready to knead and pull, to show he loves you by ‘poddling’. A happy cat….

Cat on a hot carpet

Even cats have to have vaccine booster shots. It was probably the hottest day this year and my two cats had got to go to the vets. Both had been out all day. They hate pet carriers so I got the female in a closed bag and took her to the vets. They inoculated her but warned me to get her home straight away as she was overheating in the bag.

I got home and she ran upstairs and flopped so I put her some cool water near her if she wanted a drink.

Then we explored the garden, where the boy cat was lying under a bush. We’d put a bag of frozen peas in the bag to make sure it was cooler. Back to the vets. They were happy that the second cat wasn’t overheating. We got home and let the boy out of the bag, he sprang out, but as you can see him flopped on the carpet. He has now gone back outside. X
