Slinging a pattern on here today because my brain is a bit fried with this cold and I was looking through some old digital sketches and I liked the colours in this.

I don’t know why, but spirals are the main shape that make me happy. Those and waves like those on the Japanese prints of the sea near Mount Fuji.

Spirals are amazing, found in galaxies and whirlpools, tornados and hurricanes. Waters spouts, spiralling growth of climbing plants. Water spiralling down a plug hole… Even the double helix of DNA.

Patterns are interesting, makes life interesting too.

Take a sideways glance, see things differently. Twist and turn, change the colours, change the exposure, change the contrast. Fire in the sky, glowing, shining, silhouetted, the world can be an amazing place.

When you duplicate a photo you can get some interesting effects, like this duplicated photo of the moon through trees and looking out of a wet window. Somehow I see xrays of brains, or skulls, or pictures of alien twins, or strange little aliens with outstretched arms.

I remember looking at flock wallpaper and seeing animals, or looking at clouds and seeing dragons or elephants.

There is a name for this, but I don’t remember. I must have a very active visual mind.

Just a doodle using Sketcher, a new app I’m trying out. The app is quite easy to use, with lots of different settings which I am just trying to work my way around. I don’t know how to get it off the diamond pattern so I decided to use it as a texture on this.

Acrylic paint peeled out of the tub I use to mix my paint. This is the underside. Yes I do like using bright colours. Also metallic shades. There is something about shiny paint that enthralls me..

IMG_20191108_184612 and you can make interesting bright patterns that could be used on things like phone and tablet covers. All it takes is rotating the images and joining them together. Bright and breezy x.

Well more autumn woman really. This popped up on my Facebook memories from three years ago. I’d forgotten about her. I did something similar last year, but I like this one more. I like the splurge of bright colours. I like her eyes. It went to a friend who appreciated it but to be honest there were a few people who enjoyed it.

As with all my art I like painting themes but I don’t stick to the same idea all the time. Currently my ainting include industrial archeology and history, portraits of people and animals. Space images, green men, women and animals. I do not like painting the same images constantly, my brain is fizzing too much to do that. X

Every so often my Facebook page comes up with memories of older paintings. I think all of these were done in 2016. They were on display in Cinders Hub in Newcastle-under-Lyme and two of them sold. I still have the painting of the koi carp. I realise now that although I paint a wide range of images I do like repeating certain themes.

I love colour as you can see, and I also love pattern.

Lilies

I’ve duplicated this image multiplying it by four to extend the pattern. It’s another older painting. I think I was channelling Georgia O’keefe when I painted it. It is acrylic on canvas. FB_IMG_1568676663736

I was given a book about her art as a birthday present. Sadly the book was damaged when I spilt a mug of coffee over it. It’s only a small, square paperback and now some of the images are stuck together.

O’keefe was controversial as an artist. Some of her art was seen as erotic even though she was painting flowers. I am more interested in her use of colour and blending techniques. Her work is beautiful and striking.

My painting of lilies is also slightly based on images from the start if the twentieth century. I do like art nouveau. I was also trying to use fresh colours rather than a more realistic background.
