Covid 19 SCAM, BEWARE!

sketch-1560973460669

Bad bad people 😡😡😡 ………And so it begins!……
‘Good afternoon I’m calling from the NHS track and trace service. According to our system, you are likely to have been in close proximity to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19. This means that you now need to self-isolate for 7 days and take a COVID-19 test.’
‘OK. Can you tell me who that person was?’
‘I’m not able to tell you that. That is confidential information.’
‘Right. Um… so ….’
‘But you do need to be tested within the next 72 hours. So can I just get the best mailing address so that we can send a kit to you?’
‘Ok (gives address)’
I just need to take a payment card so that we can finalize this and send the kit to you.’
‘Sorry – a payment card? I thought this was all free?’
‘No – I’m afraid not. There is a one-off fee of £50 for the kit and test results. Could you read off the long card number for me, please, when you’re ready.’
‘No – that’s not right. This is part of the NHS so there’s no charge.’
‘I’m afraid there is. Can you give me the card number please – this is very important, and there are penalties for not complying.’
Puts the phone down.
This is how scammers work. And vulnerable people will fall for it.”
Don’t fall for it…!

Cat washing

Cats are hard to draw when they are washing, they move from one position to another and when you are trying to capture them on a drawing tablet its harder because of changing tools mid drawing. My hubby just chimed in that its harder to draw flying bats! True, I just haven’t seen any recently.

Anyway I will try and do something different next time. I’m just a bit stuck in a rut today, so please excuse my lack of posting today.

Happier times

Just found this view of my studio wall, a selection of smaller paintings I did a few years ago. I wish I was still going there. Maybe by September I can get back in there? I’m paying rent for a room I’m not using.

I’ve got paintings to take down there, maybe when I finish this semester I can get back to it? I’m glad I’m busy, I’m glad I’m being creative. I just need to get my act together more.

Anyone else struggling with being organised at the moment?

I’ve just noticed how many times I’ve written ‘I’m’ here. I wonder if its bad grammar….

Hedgehog in the shed

DSC_2853

I just went out to check if there were hedgehogs in the shed. One was eating cat food but scuttled over to the corner as I shone my light in, so I took a quick photo and came out again. It’s quite a cool night so at least the poor thing has some shelter, food and water in there. There is a smaller one somewhere so we might have Hoglets soon. I think the shed needs tidying up a bit. Hubby seems to leave everything on the floor, but as long as there isn’t anything dangerous for the hedgehogs to eat they should be fine. I’ve got details now of the local hog charity so I might get in touch tomorrow. X

Remember the kittens?

_20200803_113039

Three of the four kittens our female rescue cat had. This was three years ago. They went to new homes soon after this. I know they are happy and I’m glad we rehomed them. Six cats would really have been too much for us.

As it is our cats are starting to be introduced to the stray that has been hanging around for a couple of years. I managed to get both of ours down to the vets for their first inoculation. Now I’ve got to get the abandoned cats microchip changed and have him taken to the vets for a health check up and shots. Suddenly things are getting serious. We have decided he’s not spending another winter in the shed if our two will tolerate him. We are going to gradually introduce them to each other. I hope this will work out. X

Cat in a box

_20200802_232134

Urban sketchers Stoke-on-Trent challenge today was to draw an animal. It was easy to choose my cat. He loves sitting in his box in the kitchen. He’s got a few boxes around the house he sleeps in. He likes putting his paws out and was after my pen as I started to draw him. He didn’t stay very still, but I’ve got a good idea of what he looks like.

Boat Band live!

DSC_2839

I went out for a walk today up our steep hill and then called into the local pub to see our friends in the Boatband who were playing outside in the beer garden. We stayed to listen to the music, it was the first time we had been there since March. Everything was socially distanced with a one way system in the pub so you could use the facilities. The music was cajun. You can find them on YouTube. We had an excellent socially distanced afternoon although I drank far to much gin and tonic! (it’s taken me three goes to type something coherent here).

Train set

It might look a bit of a jumble but this is hubbies train set. There is an oval of track with a spur onto a siding. We worked together to add a canal on one side, a very steep curved bridge ove the railway, some colliery buildings and lots of other bits and bobs. The buildings are either made from card or plastic, or little ornaments of buildings. I guess it’s like a little village. I think I built a tiny greenhouse.

Hubby has some bits of train that have been in their boxes for many years! I hope he liberates more of them.

Idea

How to depict art cuts?

Hear no, see no, speak no art?

Art is the senses.

Art is creativity.

Art is music, words, poetry.

Art IS life.

Take it away

Stultifying, crippling.

Education should educate

Should help create.

Where will our designers be?

Our musicians,

Architects?

Hairdressers?

Anything that adds something.

To bland and boring

Hard working

Reality.

Portfolio

_20200718_165155

I’ve been working on my portfolio for college today. I’ve got to upload it soon to show what I’ve been doing. I was halfway through when I found out I should be uploading images at 72dots per inch (dpi?) and I’ve set it at 300. I think I will have to delete all the images and save them all to the lower size limit…. So annoying because it was looking good. But at least I’ve found out in time. I need to go back and read the course instructions.

I think I’ve taken on too much sometimes. Not because I can’t do it but because I’ve got so many other things going on. I like writing here because it acts like a diary and also let’s me get ideas down that aren’t part of the course. Plus with limited contact with people it’s giving me some freedom.
