What tattoo do you want and where would you put it?
My digital drawing of David Tennant as Dr Who
I love Dr Who but there have been many actors who have played Dr Who and although I have my favourites I think I would have a picture of the Tardis whirling through space and time. It’s an iconic piece of science fiction history. I’d have a tattoo on my ankle. But it would have to be very small as I don’t like the idea of pain!
Back in 1985 several comedians got together and started raising funds for charity. A few years later it became a biannual fundraising event for people in the UK and around the world. The comedian Lenny Henry was at the forefront of the shows and helped present so many funny routines that made it such a different type of telethon for collecting money. Many comedians and musicians have lent their support to the show including Dawn French, Jennifer Saunders. Billy Connelly, Griffin Rhys Jones, Miranda Hart, Russell Caine, and many more. The show also went to places to see how they could help and recorded the results of their support of communities and individuals. Providing help for people suffering from HIV, and other chronic diseases, mental health issues, children injured during war, starvation and so many more frightening experiences.
Comic relief has collected over One Billion pounds in donations from the British public in those 40 years and are continuing to do so. We may wish that governments should support more needy children and young adults, but at least we are trying to make an effort to help.
Tonight I went to choir, I was tired and had been to the doctors for tests, I was OK but it had wound me up. Singing helps calm my mind, helps me relax, and make me concentrate where usually in the day I’m struggling to.
When I got there I found that there was one soprano and several altos so I decided to have a go at some of the higher parts. I surprised and survived the experience. I’m really glad I tried, I stretched up to some top notes I’ve not managed before. In the end I got a bit of a sore throat but a lot of enjoyment. It also boosted my confidence. I think everyone should try singing.
Post,…. A relative lives abroad with her partner. I need to remember to send a birthday card and an anniversary card together as the occasions are within a day of each other. Also I’m posting them early (it’s a month away), because it took three weeks to get her Christmas card delivered to her. I also won’t post her presents as she had to pay import tax on the one I sent at Christmas, which cost her more than the price of my gift! The reason for the late delivery of the card ? Her postman waits until he’s got enough letters together before he delivers them!
Choir was hard tonight, we were somehow bad with our timing, a bit out of tune and spent 40 minutes going over one piece of a song. We all seemed a bit tired, and our section was singing the main tune (we generally sing the backing part). It didn’t help that were singing “to make you feel my love” by Bob Dylan, but some of us were singing the Adele version!
By the time we had finished we had warmed up to the rehearsal and sounded a lot better.
Being in a choir is great for your mental health and helps you socialise, you can find lots of local choirs in the UK, so why not try it out?
I’m surprised I’m still alive, I didn’t expect that!
After Trumps final impeachment the world turned upside down for a while, then the whole “asteroid” thing in ’32 gave us a real scare. It was then that the world rallied and instead of warring turned our nuclear missiles at “the BIG ROCK”. Luckily it was forced off course and is likely to pass out of the solar system in a few years.
After that? Well you know what happened, climate change, another pandemic. That takes us to today, my 80th birthday. Only twenty years till I might reach 100. I’m glad that new medication to cure various diseases has just been announced. I just hope they also rejuvenate people and turn back ageing. It’s strange to think in a few years time my body might be physically younger than I am now? Great that some dementia has been reversed too. Maybe I’ll have to work a 40 hour week when I reach the big 1OO! Life is strange. Good luck and look after my future self. Live long and prosper! Nanu Nanu!
I could see an odd colour in the sky last night at about 4am , just vague because it was cloudy. So I took a long exposure (60 second) shot.
I posted this on Threads and someone then told me it’s not possible to photograph an aurora through cloud? But I don’t know how thin or dense the cloud was and also my camera shake makes everything look extra blurry.
If this isn’t an aurora, (maybe reflected through gaps in cloud), what has caused this?
