You are strong and ethereal, the light glints on your skin, like a dolphin, sleek, slipping through the waters, twisting coral and seaweed in your hair.

Siren songs, calling out to passing boats and ships, but ignored as diesel engines drown your subtle music. You have lost your sisters to giant nets, trawled from their watery beds by fishermen that know no better.

Mystery surrounds you, mystic, mythological, mesmerising. No soft fairy story of prince’s and princesses. You are more powerful, a trident carrying warrior.

Profile

Drawing over the top of a green faced man, I used Artrage oils to create this profile of a woman. I had the ‘oils’ set on metallic, it gave the image an old fashioned look. I am glad I can use this app.

I’m not explaining, it’s too complicated. But here are two pictures. Today’s #bandofsketchers prompt ‘sharp shards’ and then digitally edited it to create the second image. I think it coukd be used as a fabric design. I had fun.

Thursdays #bandofsketchers prompt was angled. I took a digital drawing of a profile and added detail the decided to add angled patches as if light was blocked out in a checkerboard pattern. It’s slightly abstract, I hope it works! It’s a digital drawing I drew on my tablet.

Used sketcher free to draw a flower, it’s a very flat technique, the brushes are quite interesting including ribbons, pixels, a chrome pen and an eraser. Because I’m still shaking (problem with my arm) I’m using it to experiment with wavy lines. I just used a simple pallette, green, dark grey, pink, yellow and chrome.

The idea started as some leaves but then I decided to add a single flower. The plants leaves are drawn to look wrinkly and interesting.

A few years ago I drew this portrait of Hugh Laurie, (who played House in the medical drama of that name). This was a digital drawing done with a stylus on a tablet but with very simple tools on a site called Sketchfu. It consequently closed and people lost their drawings. Luckily I downloaded some of mine.

This particular drawing always gives me pleasure. It took me a while to master the tools and when I try and draw like this now it doesn’t flow as easily. It’s true what they say – practice makes perfect!

Just a few digital drawings, one initial one then I used photodirector to change the colours and tones. I like to play with drawings and see how it can be altered without losing the definition.

Don’t be jealous, she said. I deserve it, you don’t!

Huh! What a cheek, I thought.

Her sister piped up.. Yeah we are better than you!

I was young and naive and hated the way they spoke to me. I didn’t know how to fight back. I never guessed the jealousy was theirs. They always ganged up on me.

So I sat and cried, tried hard not to think about how they treated me… Thinking about a distant future where I would go to college and become a doctor or a scientist? A lawyer or an engineer….

Cinder-Ella! They shouted down to the skullery. Get that washing done then start cooking dinner!

I wiped my eyes and put my mind to the work…..
