Digital crocosmia
I like playing with images and these are two versions of a digital drawing using different options in photodirector.
This was my basic sketch in ArtRage oils which I drew over with Sketch app.
It might not be very good but it shows what you could do to make it more interesting….
There seem to be a lot of sea shanties at the moment, there is one, I cant remember the name, about whaling, that is on TicTok or Whatsapp or something. We have learnt a few over the last couple of nights with the choirs I’m in. Just a bit of a chorus. Haul away or something like that. I love singing and we have the lovely Kate from the Boat Band to teach us. Head over to Youtube and you can find their Cajun songs and music there…

She sat looking into the hand mirror, she was going to put her mascara on, but her face was distorted. She suddenly realised it looked like a playing card, one side flipped over. What the hell was going on….. She felt her face, it seemed normal? She tried to touch the glass of the mirror… Her finger seemed to penetrate its surface. A feeling like rubber or elastic… Push, her finger disappeared into its surface. She pulled her hand away…
She thought for a second, then leaned forward and put her eye near the glass, she felt a pulling sensation, then – POP! She was in another world?
A digital drawing enhanced in photodirector to increase the abstract convolution of it. I have a feeling it reminds me of an Elephants tooth biting surface. But most things have resemblances to other things.
I changed the colours which were originally reds with blueish stripes. I made the colours more balanced. I had fun with it…
A rose, red as blood. Thorns or thornless, a joyful thing. Here is life and beauty, scent of musk, blooms that attract bees and insects. I remember the rose bush at home when I was a child. It had bright pink roses climbing up some trellis work. We used to collect the petals and try and make scented water out of them. It didn’t really work, but it was fun trying. The rose bush must have been eight or ten feet high and as wide. In the summer the scent was fantastic. I remember it was next to an old shed and the paint on the door was green and bubbling off because of the sunlight. The contrast between the fresh roses and the shed door was so interesting….

After chatting about drawing horses and the gait they have when they walk, trot, canter and gallop, I tried to remember how I used to draw galloping horses. This is a quick three minute sketch on the Sketch app. That’s why the legs are a bit muddled. I added a bit of shade underneath to sto it floating… Might get some pencils out instead of drawing them digitally….
This time of year is custard pie or cream pie time….. Oh yes it is? Oh no it isn’t!
What I mean is that usually it would be time for Pantomimes (pantos) in theatres across the land. Last year we were rehearsing Aladdin in our local village hall. We went on to perform it in February of this year. 180 people in a small room for for performances! Impossible now.
Sadly so many theatres are closed and shuttered. There is great concern that they will never open again. Instead of fun there is tragedy.
I hope custard pies are back soon! SPLAT!
Digital drawing on top of a photo of a paper cut snowflake. Then I put it through some filters and added digital glitter. I must be channeling summer! I’m pleased how it has a three dimensional feel.
I did this drawing in an app called sketcher that I used to use a lot on my tablet, but when I got a new phone I found I was creating a lot of things on it and neglecting some of the apps on other devices. Having too many choices or just lucky to have them? But I do need to try and keep my hand in with other apps.
