#bandofsketchers prompt travel, I wish I’d travelled to Hadrians wall and had seen the iconic “Sycamore Gap” before some idiots chopped the wonderful tree down. It was around 200 years old and healthy. Drawn in felt pens, imagining it’s autumn colours.
Artrage oils drawing from 7 years ago. Popped up on my Facebook memories. I love the way you could use metallic brushes to create this. It’s sort of mid way between a butterfly and a pigeon. It’s a good memory.
One of the loveliest and unusual songs we sing at choir practice is River River.
These are words from memory but I think they are pretty accurate. I had to look up the writers name as we didn’t have it. I hope I’m not breaching copyright by writing out the lyrics? I will delete ths post if here is a problem?
River River where do you flow With your water the colour of tea Gold and red in your sandy bed Do you flow to the wide green sea? No said the river I flow inland Sink down deep beneath the rock and the sand. Under the Geeji and the Mugar tree Where the desert people can find me Earth belongs to all, she belongs to no one, she belongs to herself Earth belongs to all, she belongs to no one, she belongs to herself…..
I was answering someone’s question about how it goes because they recently joined the choir, and I see an image a bit like my drawing in my mind when I sing it.
My attempt at wax resist printing that I did with the brilliant Belinda Latimer a few years ago. I enjoyed trying to do Batik in her workshop, creating layers of colour. I also did a print of a couple of fish that I called Pisces had framed in a deep wooden frame. Another example of my experimental art practice.
Sundays #bandofsketchers prompt was tradition. Trying to draw a traditional landscape by fingerprinting in the Artrage app on my phone. I don’t think it’s entirely successful but it’s all I could think of doing for this prompt.
Sundays #bandofsketchers prompt was costume. Here’s Jacob’s coat of many colours sketch using the Artrage app, I just used the oil paint tool. Then I edited it in sketchbook and added the toggles and background etc…
Catching up with #bandofsketchers prompts. This one was Play. Playing with digital ideas and textures. I used Artrage and Sketchbook apps to create this semi surrealistic eye floating in an alien sky. Weird!
#bandofsketchers repetition. Trying to catch up. My sketchbook has run out of pages and I’m stuck at home with a pulled ligament in my foot so I might do a lot of digital drawings. This has various repetitive sections using 3 different apps.
Sundays #bandofsketchers prompt was butterfly, moth or insect. I decided to do a symmetrical drawing of a butterfly using the Sketchbook app on my phone. Basically I haven’t seen many of them so far this year. So I preferred doing my own design rather than using an Internet image to work from. It’s definitely sketchy!
