The sun fades,
There is more night than day.
Equinox
Change of season.
Leaves that were green change,
First pale then golden or red and russet.
Chill air frosts spiders webs.
Rain falls cold and drenching.
Flowers that were bright fade away.
Fruits ripen and fall.
Golden grain is harvested and brought in.
Stored and dried.
Winter is not here yet but gradually
So gradually, time leaps on.
Autumn shades will fade in turn.
Sunset tonight, I saw the light on the clouds so I drove over the hill to see it.
That’s the trouble living on the east side of a big hill. It gets in the way of sunsets!
The clouds appeared dark grey but on the photos they have a blue hue. I’m not sure if that was because of the way my eyes adjusted to the light or the way the phone camera reacted. The sky was bright orange as I looked at it but appears brighter in the photo.
I tried to get a close up shot of a bat that was flitting around low to the ground, but it was only visible as it crossed the bright band of orange.

Sometimes a painting can need work. After a couple of months, and after already exhibiting “my green man” I decided to do more work on it. The canvas was a bit rough, so when you put paint on it, it didn’t spread evenly and it caught on the surface, leaving tiny little dots where the paint hadn’t stuck. That meant that it looked thin in places and the colour wasn’t strong enough so I have tried to improve the pattern of the leaves and the shading on the face. I’ve used some iridescent turquoise to give it the gleam of dampness. If I do another one I might try and paint frost and ice on it.
I need a rest, my eyes are boggling.
I don’t know if I’ve made it worse or better. I’m trying to paint in craters on this painting of Mars, but I can’t keep going at the moment because I’m tired and I’m trying to paint while holding my phone. Anyway I’ve got to get it finished. Bye for now.
One of the most interesting flowers, simple to grow from seed in poor soil. The leaves are flat and round with veins spreading in rays from the centre. The flowers have petals spreading out from a centre that has holes in it and a sort of pointed spike on the back, (hard to describe). The flowers come in a variety of colours, from cream, yellow, orange and deep red, usually with stripes on them. The plant trails and sprawls and climbs.
The flowers are actually edible! They taste like a sort of peppery orange. You can use them to brighten up a salad. A taste of summer. I’m not sure about the leaves and the seed pods, always make sure a plant is safe to eat before you try them.

I like this, the way everything seemed to line up. The wind spinner, lilies and the chair, and I like the colour combinations. The copper colours with the greens and browns. The cloud cover seemed to enhance the shadows as the sun crept out from between them. The calla lily infront of the budda.
Playing with the sketch app and photo editing app. Trying to create pattern and colour, a summery feel to cheer me up after the heavy rain we had over the last couple of days. A rainbow effect after flooding and dark clouds.

A creature appears to have left its mark on a bar of soap in the bathroom.
Two eyes and a grin, a strawberry coloured stain from a bar of strawberry soap.
What would blogger and artist LittleFears call it? This is the kind of cartooning he does (though much more sophisticated than this) I don’t know, he uses lots of puns….
Any ideas?
I was coming home from choir early because I was hit and bothered because its so hot here, (around 30°). But the sunset was fantastic and I just had to stop and take pictures. It developed as I watched.

Thanks to my friend Angela Ashton whose glass workshop I attended to make these glass cabochons and my friend Debbie Travis whose wire weaving skills produced the wire supports for them. I have to say they came out beautifully. Now all I’ve got to try and do is sell them!
