Plants grow towards the light
That’s phototropism!
Etiolation means
Growing long and leggy
Not enough light
Makes them stretch
Darkened room
Not enough light
Plants are clever
They use light to photosynthesise
This poem?
An excuse to use long words!
New paintings and regular art updates.

Plants grow towards the light
That’s phototropism!
Etiolation means
Growing long and leggy
Not enough light
Makes them stretch
Darkened room
Not enough light
Plants are clever
They use light to photosynthesise
This poem?
An excuse to use long words!

Books, important things
Full of knowledge
Truth and lies
Freedom to think
Words have strength
Shout out loud
Of time and history.
So many subjects
Art, Biology, Cheese and wine
Gullivers travels
Earth and sky.
Let them live,
Don’t ban books
Or burn them
Fahrenheit 451
Flames lick away
Knowledge, peace, understanding
A bookshelf a day
Keeps misunderstanding
At bay.

Yes, we have three cats
Hungry, playful, cheeky
Are not their names
Sometimes together
Sometimes apart
Chasing each other
Loving toys
Liking treats
Eating catnip.
Hiding in, under, on.
Jumping, climbing, causing
Fun and trouble
Things, found, battled
Played with.
Equipped with claws and teeth
And purrs and growls
Formidable felines!
Nine lives!

Fun with lamps.
Duplicated and turned
Hanging from the ceiling
Shining a light
On the crowded lounge
They move in the breeze
Floating in circles
Describing orbits
Random and round
Looking like a drum kit
Hanging up high.

Looking out at four am
Through steamed window
The view is obscured
By a dying plant
(sadly too cold)
A cat doorstop
Cat food
A wind up radio
And a cow creamer.
Very random.
Too tired to rhyme.

Here’s a bit of blank verse,
We are lucky not to be too cold.
It’s nineteen point two
A slight chill in here
Two small lights on
Saving energy?
So I have a dressing gown
Or a cardigan
To wear.
I will buy a hot water bottle.
No gas fire this autumn or winter
Central Heating?
When it’s too cold.
An electric heater otherwise.
Gas costs more than electricity here
I can’t afford double what we paid
Last year.
Well at least I’m not heating up
The environment, too much.

Gardening, Yoga, Choir practice
All in one day!
Poppies to pot
Marigolds and lobelia
Plants bought needed tending.
Then oh!
Blissful Yoga
But with stretches
The Cobra and Sphinx
That have made my legs ache.
Finally, singing
Bunting still hanging
Samoan and Maori
English, fragrent and flowery.
So much in a few hours.
A good rest?
That will be best

Dawn is a coming
The sleigh is halfway
On its route around
The world.
Up and down continents
North and South
From East to west
He flies.
Pulled by reindeer
Under radar
Over phone lines.
Past startled cats.
Waking birds too
For an early
Dawn chorus.
Santa’s sleigh
Is on its way!

One thing after another

Suffering ad breaks
To see cute cats?
Images of families
Happy days
Forgotten memories
Never ending smiles?
Playing games
That never stop
Pop that bubble
Snap that candy?
Following friends
Then friends of friends
Who is that person
From an obscure town?
Watching the world
TV on your phone
Music streaming
My mind shredded?
Influences and influencers
Look at what you can be
What you can have
But it costs in money
So have a bet
See what you can get?

Ink runs
Ink penetrates
It seeps
Through pages
Leaves marks
Makes islands
On the page…
Trap them
Surround them.
Engulf them
Isolate them.
Add contours
Describing their existence.
Then I’m happy.
