Kingfisher painting that was up for sale at Etruria Industrial museum today. Please to say a friend bought it. What a nice surprise and I know it’s going to a good home. Kingfisher feathers look blue but are actually brown. It’s the irridecence of their feathers that makes the colour glow.
I have some paintings up at Etruria Industrial museum. The museum is open this weekend (31st May and 1st June 2025).
Red horse. This is a painting I did a few years ago, acrylic on canvas. From a friends photograph. I had her permission to paint it.
The Canal festival has all sorts of activities including music and canal boats on display and usually morris dancing. I’m looking forward to it if the weather is OK. I might struggle to walk around but will try my best.
Work in progress, a square canvas, acrylic on canvas. Painted with a thickish layer of silver paint then I drew the brush through the layer of pigment and created this wavy effect. It almost looks like bark. I may add a moth or butterfly…
I always loved drawing cats in hats. I usually draw them in wizards hats. But this time I decided to drew something like a fascinator. It would be a close fitting felt hat with patterns and bits projecting up from it. I’ve played around in photodirector to give it a more textured feel.
I’ve got too many photos in my phone. It’s crept up to over 17000 and it’s hard to delete them. The personal ones are really hard to let go. I’m attached to so many of them. I’m not sure if I can wave them goodbye. They do hold me in the past. Tie me together like wrapping paper and string.
The WordPress account only allows a maximum amount of memory and I keep hitting 100 %, so every so often I delete pictures. If I can I remove the free photos from the free photo library, or blurry, not very good ones from my own pictures. I know it’s not what I want to do, but I can’t afford to take on a bigger package. Anyway that means some posts are now lacking images. But I try to delete as few as I can. X
Blue seems turquoise these days. My cataracts have shifted my colour vision. I see it in every television programme. I noticed it a few months ago. I had thought it was because a special new colour had been chosen on fashion grounds. But now I’m pretty certain it’s me. Hope it will be sorted out if and when I have an operation. At least I am in good company with the famous impressionist Claude Monet.
My walls are plastered with pictures. I don’t decorate because they are in the way. Some are my pieces but there are other artists work too. They include prints, photos, paintings and scraper board art. Then there are ornaments on the mantlepiece. I have what can only be called eclectic tastes. This was going to be a photo of one of my cats, but he moved!
Two of our (literal) stars of the Mystery Play at rehearsal today. They are only young but they have some acting knowledge, I hope they will enjoy the experience, they certainly had the enthusiasm! Things are gathering slowly but it is getting there and I hope the audience will enjoy the play. Not long to go!
Imagine a woman. Dressed as a page boy ready to perform in a play, it could be in the past when women and girls were not allowed to act. Or it could be a recreation of a look design for a more modern TV programme. It could also be a science fiction design. The lines are my attempt to create a feeling of a stained glass window.
