I’m confused, this is my confused face. I can’t find some of my settings although this seems to be the classic version of WordPress I am still irritated and lost. Bits of information and buttons are missing….
Sigh
Why mess it up? I’m getting too fed up with it! Not a good attitude for a happy new years eve.
A card and two fridge magnets from an old friend. She lives in Australia and these are her lovely art works. I love them and it’s so kind of her to send them. Goodness knows how long it takes to post something all that way.
I know the sun is probably set on the other side of the world, and they are in mid summer. Their new years day will be later (no earlier! Oops) than ours by about twelve hours. Hope she has a good new year x
I was hoping for a new layer of snow instead we got mist. There is still a bit of lying snow but the roads and pavements are clearer. Might go for a walk later….
Apart from that WordPress has reverted to block editor again…. Clearly they don’t like us old fuddy duddies that prefer the classic version. Grr….
On New year’s eve, without announcement, suddenly my phone version of WordPress switched over to block editor. But I like the classic version. I know how to use it. The new version looks childish somehow. Too simplified? There is something about it that upsets me. It’s not what I chose. It doesn’t look right. I don’t need massive icons to see what I’m doing. It feels dumbed down.
And why change it without asking? No notification…. On a busy day. The last of 2020, with a million things to do. The last thing I need is to have to relearn what I’m doing here. WORDPRESS PLEASE NOTE : I’M A BLOGGER NOT AN EDITOR. AND I DON’T LIKE NASTY LITTLE SURPRISES. Who decides these things anyway? I pay enough for my plan not to be messed up about! Happy NEW Year for tomorrow. Don’t spring anything else like this on me, PLEASE!
I was just watching a film when something (I think it was a spider) walked across the neck of my jumper right under my chin. Eek. I jumped up from my chair! I usually like spiders, but not ones that are only an inch from my mouth! I pulled my jumper off and threw it across the room….. I couldn’t see the spider and I hope it didn’t get squashed! You can tell how jumpy its made me because of all the exclamation marks I’ve used. Eek!
It might have been a ladybird, trying to remember it’s shape and calming down now…. The cat had been sitting on my lap and he got dumped on the floor because of me jumping….
It’s forecasting snow again tonight… Then about 7am it’s saying fog…. Maybe it will be OK for a walk, maybe not…. New year’s eve could be interesting weather-wise. Maybe if there is a big enough accumulation I might try and make a snowman!
I usually make a trifle at Christmas, but I’m doing it for New Years Eve and Day this time (so it will be a two year old trifle!).
This is only the start, but it looked so pretty. I’ve put a pint of sugar free rasperry jelly (made up with half a pint if boiling water and a quarter of a pint of cold water and a quarter of a pint if sherry. (jelly is not the American version of jam, but is it called jello). I added chopped strawberries and whole blackberries to the liquid. Any slightly mouldy ones are going on the bird feeding table tomorrow, they have been washed and are back in the fridge.
Tomorrow I will add strawberry blancmange (a type of flavoured custard), as I don’t like custard which some people use. I make that up with a pint of milk and sweetener ( I avoid putting sugar in). Finally I whip double cream, (heavy cream?) about three quarters of a pint till it makes stiff peaks. I might add spare blackberries for decoration. I might take a photo tommorow when it’s finished. X
What can I do now? We are going into tier four from midnight. We are expected to stay home unless we are going out for exercise or going to get essential shopping. Thus means the majority of the British population are virtually in lockdown again, nine months after covid started.
Basically there is a new, more infective form of corona virus. They are saying there are not more symptoms, but that they can be contracted more easily.
Sadly the level of infections has gone up to over 70,000 today and the deaths are over 900 today. Where will this all end? I can’t wait to get vaccinated.
A half mile from home along slippery, icy streets. The air was getting colder, falling below zero, ice crystals making Frost on the road surface. Not enough gritting? They were out later.
When you walk with someone with long strides and you only have little legs you have to move faster to keep up. That’s OK in normal weather, but in snow and ice its difficult. I got over it by holding hands and telling him not to pull me over! We got home safely.
A view across the snowy allotments from yesterday. The posts of the gateway and metal spikes on the top protruding up into the darkening sky. The pathway through the allotments is visible because the metal dars are bent at the top.
