Fireworks going off already!

It’s not even eleven thirty and fireworks are going off. I think people can’t wait for the end of the year. I don’t have any pictures of them so here’s a drawing I did a while ago of something vaguely like a firework.

I’ve tried to think of interesting things to post over the year, some poetry, some strange or silly stories, and mainly my Art. This year I haven’t been as inspired, and things have been distracting me. For instance the college course on illustration I’m doing. I hope you have enjoyed my blog, and that I can keep it going in the new year. Keep safe. Stay healthy!

It’s your life too

I will wear it for you,

to keep you safe,

for old friends,

and new.

I will try and be safe,

wash my hands,

even wash my shopping.

I will keep my distance,

not hug,

not shake your hand.

I will cough into my elbow,

tap feet,

not touch.

I love you dearly,

I want all to be well,

all shall be well?

Are you well?

Keep safe.

More lockdowns coming?

Life could be getting complicated again. The pesky virus is increasing. People keep getting together and meeting up in their homes. The result is that the R rate (reproduction rate) has gone from below 1 to between 1.1 and 1.5. New cases are climbing and the number of people admitted to hospital are increasing. Testing is not working, people are being sent miles away from home, or when the patient gets to a testing Station they are sometimes getting sent away! This is getting worrying. Again.

In a bubble

I’m tense all the time. My hubby went out walking today with some friends and I stayed in ostensibly to get some college work done but really I want to keep away from possible infection. I don’t like it though. I’m constantly tense. I get pains in my shoulders from holding them tight all the time. I’ve tried to book some physio because I’m getting pain from a pinched nerve in my arm and shoulder…  But there are no free appointments. Hubby says he will pay, but I’d rather trust the NHS than go private?

So the tension continues. I’ve even found myself rocking backwards and forwards to comfort myself. I don’t think I’m depressed just physically reacting to the pandemic. Stay safe everyone.

Lockdown being lifted?

I’m going to keep my distance and still wear a mask.

The latest in the UK is that from Monday six people can gather in a garden as long as they keep two meters distance. You can even use the bathroom as long as you thoroughly clean the toilet and wash your hands.

So that will be everyone running round looking for barbecue charcoal and burgers. Buying beer. Drinking, hugging, having a laugh. It’s already happening near us. A closed public house has people meeting in their beer garden. Hidden behind a fence, but you can hear four or five people laughing and joking. No I’m not against fun! Please don’t think that. But there are a lot of vulnerable people about…

One, asymptomatic or presymptomatic person meets five friends, they share a beer or three. The next day he visits his mate and the mates elderly parents in their garden. Then he pops down to the shop for some food for tomorrow’s barbie. He doesn’t bother about keeping apart, he’s relaxed because he’s been able to meet friends and relatives, different people on each day.

Barbecue day arrives, the sun is shining, but our friend feels under the weather. He’s got a bit of a fever and a dry cough. His partner is cooking breakfast but he can’t smell it. He decides to dial 111 (our health telephone line), and is told to book a test. He needs to drive himself to the test center, which is forty miles away, or they will post him a kit out. Eventually it arrives, but he’s too ill, his partner has started feeling under the weather and they are worried about their parents.

Track and Trace can’t find out all the contacts because of the number of people involved.

So I’m keeping a distance and wearing a mask. It may not be much of a defence.

Stay safe

I keep getting things like this.

It’s a Hoax…. received_527588088181683

My friend sent me this and when I questioned it, she checked and confirmed its a hoax.

I didn’t want to say that to her, but I’ve  had this as a voice recording, and also purporting to be from the NHS over the last few days. People want to help. But if they are hoaxed into sending misinformation or completely wrong stuff then it’s not fair on them. They are only trying to help.

She wanted me to stay safe, and I appreciated that. But we need to be careful not to send misinformation. If people get a false sense of security it means more lives will be put at risk.

Stay safe, fact check

Sending love.

It’s not rocket science…

I saw this online and it amused me.

Our government is still saying people can go to work if they are essential workers. But building workers are going in, so are others who should be off because their employers won’t let them take leave. Our government is confusing the issue.

People need to take it seriously NOW!

As someone said, better six foot apart than six foot under.

Life goes on….

FB_IMG_1562803522115

Another digital pattern that I drew that cheers me up.

Life goes on, as I sit at home, with just about enough food to last a few days, the opportunity to rest seems to have left me. I’m not sleeping for long each night, I get up and start watching the news.

But I’m not in a refugee camp, or one of the homeless sleeping rough. I’m only going to have to stay in for a few weeks, I’m not imprisoned. I might even get to have a birthday party because that’s after the 12 week ‘lockdown’.

Life goes on, I get on my partners nerves and he gets on mine, but we have been together several years and know each others ways. I admit I do nag him though. We need to stay safe.

We also have a garden which we can get out into. It might even look good if we put some work into it.

Friends are important, in our social media age. I’m probably chatting more to people now than I was before. Some social media things are worrying though. There is something going round on messenger, which first came out as a voice clip, supposedly translated from doctors in Italy. Now it’s a written message, the same wording, saying its from the NHS? It says things like drinking warm water every fifteen minutes will was the virus into your stomach. It won’t! The BBC did a fact check on this. The drinking thing does not keep you safe. The best thing to do is keep home, wash your hands, stay safe. I’m just worried things like this message will make people complacent about the virus.

Anyway. Off to do some spring cleaning again….

Stay safe, keep well and wash your hands X
