Black and white
Neat and tidy
Often aloof
But sitting beside me.
Paws lined up
Waiting to dine
Everything about him
Is oh so fine.
He’s only a moggy
A white and black cat
He can be soppy
And he’s getting quite fat!
New paintings and regular art updates.

The cats slept but I didn’t.
Little snores kept me awake.
I don’t like the dark
Or the cold
Being on my own.
One cat gets under the covers
Claws out, poddling me
It’s sweet but
Then she gets too hot
Leaping out and away.
I tried reading
But I ached,
My mind raced
Too tired to sleep now.
Third night this week….

When I got an ink roller to blot out the name and address on a letter I realised I could also draw with it. This is from 4 years ago and came up on Facebook memories. This was one of my experiments. Since the roller made quite a wide mark it turned into a fat cat! Some of it is using a fine line pen but if you use the roller edge you can also draw lines.

Cats! They are sometimes sweet, sometimes bonkers. One of mine seems to think he’s an otter! He’s just come upstairs purring gloriously and left wet paw prints next to me as I was sitting on the edge of the bed. A purraow and now he’s washing his paws. Reminds me of a quote from Dylan Thomas’s Under Milk Wood…. Before you let the Sun in make sure it’s wiped it’s feet!

All my cats have black patches on their noses. Apparently the black in cats is actually a type of tabby (ginger) and sometimes in bright sunlight you can even see stripes where part of the coat has faded. Most of the cats I have had have been black and white, none of them were pedigree and a lot of them were cool characters. One particular cat was very intelligent. She came when I whistled or called, but would also jump across gaps when I called her and liked to ride on my shoulder. She was a stray when we got her and lived to a good age of around 19.
Want to get a pet with an independent personality? Think of adopting a rescue cat!

One of my cats. It’s good to have something as a companion when you find yourself on your own. The fact you have something to look after holds you together. You can’t easily give in to sadness when creatures rely on you. Life has a way of kicking your ankles and letting you know you still have responsibilities. Thankfully it’s also good to have friends to help out. They know who they are and how much support they have given me (buying catfood and shopping while I’ve had covid).
It’s going to be a long journey, but having my companion animals will help.

Thought I would quickly do a #bandofsketchers prompt. Mostly lying in at the moment, various cats come and share the bed or lie on me and squash me. Keeping warm together. Quick doodle lying sideways in bed.

Find a warm spot and curl up. You can put your nose under your tail and snuggle down. Cats are lucky to have tails. Making them cuddly and comfy.
Apart from sleeping for hours a day? They are funny and playful. They are intelligent and charming. They are sometimes naughty too! Being a cat in a house can be a pleasure, but some people are cruel and unkind. Cats like all pets need treating with love care and attention. They will love you if you do. They are, awesome companions if you get the right ones.

You lie on the bed, quite sweet
But you take up half the space
And though you look so neat
I still can’t find a place
To put my feet!

This popped up on my Facebook memories today. My little cat, simple painting, but with gold leaf. I used it a few times because my friend had given me a book of gold leaf. I know I found it hard to manipulate. I did enjoy using it though.
