Today’s #bandofsketchers prompt was Woven. I tried to copy some celtic knotwork but it went a bit wrong. Plus my pen was running out. Anyway I had a go. I used to love celtic art. I may try again. Black ink drawing.

Poster cat
Playing with a photo app, you can change the texture/lines of a drawing, add the drawing to a photo they provide and even add text. I like how the cat in my drawing is looking down on the street. He’s haughty and aloof.
Transformation
First take an everyday object or scene. Then redraw it but change it. That’s what I’ve done here. Coming up with different ideas in twenty minutes. So I give you a lighthouse, graffiti torch, a torch to see fingerprints (which might be leaking acid) and changing between straight lines and curves. Fun workshop. I’m going to work more on lines and shading.
Drawing tension workshop.
In about 15 minutes we had to draw a set of panels based on some prompts. The one I chose was someone at a campfire then something sinister happens…. I hope this is understandable. The final two panels are meant to increase tension. Finally she ends up facing a snake!
House?
Old digital drawing I did of House, the actor Hugh Laurie.
I remember him from his comedy act with Stephen Fry, and also his appearances in Blackadder with Rowan Atkinson (who also plays Mr Bean).
I’ve watched most of the episodes, I’m fascinated by his characters ability to diagnose the most unusual diseases, and his inability to socialise with people.

Sad
The #bandofsketchers prompt today was sad. I looked for Sad images, but it came up with handsome or pretty people, sad cat memes and info about seasonal effective disorder. So I drew myself pulling a sad face. Black fine point ink drawing.
Abstract green man
Abstract based on a green man jardinaire seen in Yorkshire and done using my old phone texture software (crude but it made interesting patterns). I actually miss it, I haven’t found anything that does it anymore.

After over a year I finally went out today with my local urban sketchers group to a place called Keele Hall, part of Keele University. Its near Newcastle-Under-Lyme in Staffordshire. The hall was originally the home of Ralph Sneyd and his son a couple of centuries ago. It was then taken over as Stoke-on-Trent University but then was taken over as Keele University, one of the first campus universities in the UK.
Too complicated! I should have been there at 11, but by the time I got there and started it must have been 11.45, then time flew by. The sun was so bright I decided to lurk in a shadow, but even then it was hard to see details.
Ice cream
#bandofsketchers prompt yesterday was ‘sweet’. I’ve been eating far too much ice cream recently. I used post it notes for the sauce and sprinkles and the tub, then shaded and drew with a fine line black ink pen. The shading was done with a pale green felt pen. This is meant to indicate soft ice cream, the stuff they sometimes call Mr Whippy!
