Figures are hard to finger paint, the details are difficult to draw clearly. In this Artrage oils drawing I threw pretty much all the pen tools at it, including watercolour, spray paint, and an eraser pen. An old digital drawing of Mona drawn on the old sketchfu site. I got the nose and the body way too long! I used the site tools which were circular pens of seven varying sizes, and an opacity/transparency setting to build up the colours. I think I did this about ten years ago on my old wacom tablet.
Thursdays #bandofsketchers prompt was holiday. Holiday? What’s that. We usually stay around Stoke because we don’t have many people to cat sit and holidays are too expensive. We do have days out. I tried to draw Jodrell Bank from memory, gave up and drew over it with a silver pen. Vaguely got the detail!
Got this from my Facebook memories. It’s a finger painting of a duck using the Artrage oils app. I like how it has a metallic sheen if you use the slider on it. The brushes on it can also create textures. I love drawing and this gives me the freedom to sketch if I don’t have a real sketchbook with me. I’m pleased with the colours that I used.
By the way”duck”is a well used friendly greeting between people in Stoke on Trent…
Cold was our #bandofsketchers Tuesday prompt.
How to keep cool in hot weather. We don’t have air conditioning so we occasionally use a fan to at least stir the air a bit. I’ve imagined one with ribbons (which would probably get tangled up). Just a quick felt pen sketch.

Original pattern from 9 years ago. I’ve just duplicated it to extend the pattern. It was originally drawn on a site called Sketchfu which sadly closed a few years ago. As a pattern lover I liked the simplicity of the site. You could draw a lot of things with a few circular different sized pens.
Arnold, sketch from four years ago when I attended the annual urban sketchers meet up that was held in Stoke-on-Trent that year (2019?). Just came up on my Facebook memories. It’s a drawing of the statue of Arnold Bennett which is in our city centre in Hanley.
The #bandofsketchers prompt today was weather. I want it to rain. I painted silver clouds, then drew over it with felt pen to try and create a bright cloudy looking landscape with rainshowers.
Getting placement and colours right. I like this composition because it has red and green complementary colours. But with yellows and blues to jazz it up. I need to sort out the chin and the fence. It needs to go backwards and the face to come forwards. There is detail on the gate and face I haven’t added yet, but the paint is wet and I don’t want it to become too blurry.
