7 days to go…
This is my 358th continuous day of posting on WordPress. I almost did it before a couple of times, but for whatever reason I crashed back to zero… I hope I can do it this time! Is there a reward for posting every day that we have travelled round the sun? Almost the length of time there has been covid19 in the world? Is it a milestone or a curse being on line every day. I guess it means I haven’t been away on holiday where there was no WiFi… I’m tempting fate!
Summer flowers

Pink summer Fushias. Looking forward six months and they will be here in June or July. A riot of colour covering our wet and soggy gardem and back yard. I can’t wait. Flowers are uplifting and cheering. They make great subjects to paint and though green has been proved to calm the mind, I think the colours of flowers add joy and happiness… .
Quiz night on Zoom
That was hard! After winning last time we could only come third this time with devilish questions.
Who knew a Cria is a baby Alpaca? Not a baby Llama by the way.
You had to know the scores on Scrabble tiles for heavens sake. I thought William Shakespeare had a score of 30? it was 32.
We came close, 43.5 against 48. Some inspired guesses, but who knew the train line across Australia is called the Gan, which in turn is based on the old name for camel trains?
These questions keep getting harder!

Memory of a steam fair

About 2018, hubby and I visited a steam fair at Chelford near Jodrell Bank in Cheshire.
It wad a lovely day out. Lots of country market stalls selling everything from honey to shoes. Lots of mechanical stuff for farmers and people who like to ‘tinker’.
The photo is of a miniature train that was running alongside the main exhibition ring of the fair. We took a short ride on it.
Tractors and steam engines were being displayed. And around the ring were steam gallopers and traction engines, plus food stalls.
Wouldn’t be allowed now!
Remembering Barndances!

They were a hoot! Loads of people trying to dance square dances, making arches with their arms, swirling in circles round the room. Passing behind a line of people (casting) then dancing up the middle with your partner holding hands and twirling round and round. Crowded round tables around the sides of the room. Alcohol was for sale and they sometimes ran out of drink! I loved trying to capture people’s positions as they danced. In aid of Penkhull Mystery plays. I miss them.
Blossom time

I keep finding old photos of my drawings over the last few months. This was day 25 of our Urban Sketchers challenge to draw pictures in lockdown. Over the months I’ve had more drawing practice than I had for several years before.
I notice the tricycle, that had to have new back wheels one of the old ones collapsed and the other one was almost rusted through. And the copper coloured windmill that fell apart in a heavy wind!
The blossom was pink and white cherry and pear blossom. Billowing and beautiful, we had abundant fruit this year. Only five or six months to wait before it comes back.

and finally
Memory of summer
Im there again
amongst the scents
of floral heaven.
baskets of joy
lavender spikes
cornflowers glowing blue.
heady pinks
nasturtiums
and twining vines.
Over all
an angel
protecting and
providing
sunshine
rain
and light.
π° Chesnuts

Memory from seven years ago on Facebook. Hubby decided to bake some Chestnuts- but they were not cooked so he put them back in the oven- 10 minutes later- BANG! One had exploded, he was shouting ow- so I came down to find him taking the roasting dish out of the oven- and using my jumper as an oven glove, he proceeded to try and break them open first with the garlic press, then with the nutcrackers- the chestnut did not pop- it exploded all over the work surface, I grabbed some kitchen towel and we used that to wrap the superheated chestnuts to break them openβ¦.
Punk

Memory of the 1970’s and 80’s. The punk era. Digital drawing done on the sketcher free app. I drew this three years ago so I don’t remember it much. Found on my Facebook memories….
