cat dragon

used basic photoshop drawing tools to turn my cat into a dragon. She was stretched out on the bed this afternoon and the way she was lying was just right for this.Added some blue sky, and with that cute look it just worked, she could be twisting and turning in the air ready to land on the top branches of a tree, ready to furl her wings and sit and have a peaceful wash or she might be ready for mischeif? Whatever she does she will remain cat sized and gentle.

She could also be a bat cat, or a magpie cat. Genetically manipulated to be catwomans friend, you saw it here first!

Little paws

His paws look so small. A clear example of foreshortening. Where the image looks bigger where it is closer to the lens. If I had taken the photo from right in front of him it would have been more in proportion. Taken from near his feet and his head would look tiny. Also its about depth of field. If you look at the photo it is all in focus, but if you change the depth of field you can get one section of the photo in focus, and other parts (closer or further from the lens) blurred/out of focus. It’s not something you can do with a phones auto focus but probably if I played with the manual settings I could do something? I finally changed it to a black and white filter to emphasise his fur.

Cat 6.30am

While I was writing this morning all three cats came upstairs to see me. This is one of the boy cats. FURRY NINJAS, pounce on anything. It’s fun to watch them all interact. You can catch them eyeing up the warmest places to sleep. One of them will move and another will take its place. A noise from a cupboard? A cat is washing, or snoring! Life with cats is fun.

Cat pays rent!

Our outdoor, now indoor boy cat (seen sleeping here) seems to think he’s obliged to pay rent for staying here! It is quite upsetting when he brings small rodents like shrews and mice in. Sometimes we manage to rescue them. I hate it when he has a mouse moustache! I’m trying to teach him not to do it, but mostly I shout and tell him off and he looks bewildered (and bewhiskered).

Last night was mad. The mouse he bought in escaped into the bathroom but we managed to get it out by shutting our three cats in the kitchen and opening the back door. Since the bathroom is downstairs it was just a short run out for the mouse. The cats were contented with some cat food and we breathed a sigh of relief. I hope it doesn’t happen again soon!

Cat toy on a mat

Found my old cat toy while tidying up today. I will balance him on the back of the sofa but I couldn’t resist putting him on my old mat. Then I played with the texture to emphasise the fake fur on him. He has a gold tartan ribbon. I think I got him to go with a ‘merrythought’ tortoise soft toy that I won in a raffle years ago. That’s missing too, but I only just realised that because they are linked together in my mind.

Now my cats have come in. They want food! The toy cat has one advantage, it doesn’t need feeding!

Three legs?

No, just the way he’s sitting! He is such a big cat and he looks so strong. He’s so big he can barely get through our car flap. He battered at the flap when I tried to shut him in at night and split the actual flap part into three. I bought a new cat flap. But because it’s a different shape and would need new holes drilling, I took the old bit out. Then I sanded bits off the new flap and managed to get the new bit fitted. The trouble is it’s very slightly smaller so it’s a bit drafty, and if this cat goes through it roughly he knocks the flap loose. But no – he is fully legged!

Two cats?

No, just playing with mirror images again. But she is cute. And two heads are better than one? She was lying in the sunshine on our bed, happy and purring. I tilted the camera to fit her in the photo, which is why her head is at an odd angle. She is small and beautiful. She has gorgeous green eyes, she loves being stroked and purrs loudly. She makes me happy! Sweet cat x
