So many plants
Too many plants?

No golden bells

Or pretty maids all in a row?

Overgrown
Too many plants in our garden. A lot of shrubs. There are probably bears in there (not), maybe hedgehogs and the squirrels are back and have started eating the walnuts from our tree which must be sixty foot high now.
A massive two trunked laurel Bush /tree robs a lot of the light, and holy bushes and a small eucalyptus are dotted about. The cherry trees are getting big and we have had to prop up the pear tree which is now laden with fruit. The wisteria is tangled up with the ivy on our kitchen and bathroom extention and a fig tree is growing there too. A few small olives appeared on the olive tree this year but didn’t grow big enough to crop.
Too much shade in the main garden so we are growing flowers in the back yard and on the pavement. We even (weirdly) have a couple of cabbages growing at the front!

The moisture level outside is about 85%, I’ve got the fan on and the windows closed to keep the heat out. All my hanging baskets had wilted this afternoon despite heavy rain a couple of days ago. Sorry to go on about my garden but I enjoy showing it off. It does need work though. X
We don’t have droughts like other countries but we do sometimes have heathland fires occasionally. We are more prone to flooding. Apparently we have tornadoes but I’ve never seen one and they’re only small scale here.

Rain and shine
It was hailing earlier, then a great shower of rain and then the sun came out. That sort of weather when it doesn’t know what it’s doing… Leaves are still on the plants and flowers too. Mainly because it’s been cloudy at night, keeping the heat in a bit. The lowest temperature I’ve seen was about 5.2°C in the middle of the night.
My hanging baskets are looking a bit bedraggled but we will see what happens over the next few days. Life cycles round, winter arrives later every year…
Sunflower and Cyclamen
It’s amazing what will grow in a hanging basket. There are cyclamen that my hubby recently planted at the back of this basket, plus miniature sunflowers he planted the seeds of in the spring. An interesting combination at this time of year….
Today is cold, wet and windy. You can see the raindrops on the window, but as long as the temperature does not fall too low these should last a little longer. Below the basket you can see begonia leaves. Their flowers are still surviving too. Any little bit of food for insects. I hope the bees got their fill this summer.
The thing on the fence is our weather station, I can see the weather when I look out the window, but it’s good to watch the air pressure going up and down…
Morning glory
Several plants and one flower later! The other morning glory plants have buds on them. But the weather is set to be cold and wet from tomorrow, so they might all wilt! Anyway here is a tiny flower, I’m please it’s come out!
Old bench
Oh dear, this bench is falling apart
Sat on for years
Worn away
Crumbling and split,
No resort
But to buy new slats.
Cast iron still strong.
Hold together
And you will be new….
To be our support again.
Firey flowers…
Just Begonias in the dark, taken last night through the window, the light on them is from the standard lamp we have in the living room. I thought it looked like a firework going off in the dark, cool, night.

Day 29…
Day 29, #uskstoke challenge, 17.5.2020.
The prompt was to do a house portrait, so I drew the back yard with lots of pots and hanging baskets. I ran out of energy so it looks neater than it is, there is less foliage than there should be. I used a charcoal pencil to do this, it has a plastic cover around it so you can sharpen it.
I had to start a new sketchbook. And these challenges keep going till day 38! So there are a few more to tackle.
