Sailing

There seem to be  a lot of sea shanties at the moment, there is one, I cant remember the name, about whaling, that is on TicTok or Whatsapp or something. We have learnt a few over the last couple of nights with the choirs I’m in. Just a bit of a chorus. Haul away or something like that. I love singing and we have the lovely Kate from the Boat Band to teach us. Head over to Youtube and you can find their Cajun songs and music there…

Way hay me harties! singing is one of the best ways to relax and enjoy yourself . So many different genre’s .

sleep tight, let the sea be placid, and rock you gently over the deep….

Painting candidate…

I’m always taking photos, but not all of them feel like they could be turned into a painting. I like this evening sky reflected in the lake, a stretch of ice covering part of it. I’m not sure how the picnic table avoided getting snow underneath so neatly… It must have fallen straight down.. I like the diagonals in this, it adds feeling to it…

Carborundum

Band of sketchers prompt today hard. Carborundum is a man made creation, it’s exotic, iridescent, rainbow covered spikes are like something from a gothic fairy tale. Carborundum is thought to be a master healer that shines light in all areas of your life and connects to all chakras, purifies mind, body and spirit.’, a crystallography site…(Carborundum, second hardest thing to diamond on the Mo scale)

Monochrome today’s prompt

I almost forgot to post today’s prompt for our #bandofsketchers group. The category was Monochrome. I decided to draw a few Christmas presents in black and white. Is that duochrome?

Anyway I tried to draw the calendar we got for 2021, a cat moneybox, a synthetic pearl necklace with a mother of pearl pendant, and a book on Art and Illustration.

Dragon fly

The odd things people send to each other on WhatsApp. I was trying to draw a dragonfly and someone told me she had got one that she had found in her she’d last year. She sent me this picture. I think it’s been preserved in plastic? I was going to delete the photo, but I was quite fascinated by the wings and the reflections on it. Hence this random post…..

2014 Angel

Before I got a drawing tablet for my computer I used to draw with a mouse. This drawing was put on Facebook in 2014, but I’m sure I had a wacom tablet by then. I actually think it’s around ten years older and that I saved this image on one of the numerous times my hard drive went down. The picture must have been drawn on a basic program, but I can’t remember which. I know it’s a mouse drawing because of the wobbly lines…… I still like it…

Looking up

Well, I tried to draw our living room lampshade. But with the light on it is a bit too dazzling. Today’s #bandofsketchers prompt was looking up.

I used a few felt pens, including a gold and two browns. Also a black and a yellow and finally a grey for the shadows on the ceiling. I outlined the edges with a bit of black biro. I might also do something else as I’m not totally happy with this.

Stone angel

Probably soapstone. This little carved angel came from a craft fair a year ago. She sat with an open book, made of clay, sitting on her hands. Now that’s disappeared so she has a small heart made of glass, balanced there instead.

Is she something that requires a votive offering? An indulgence? No, she is just there. Pretty rather than profound. I don’t really know why I bought her, but she feels friendly….

It sits on the slim bookcase that holds the land line. The bookcase that holds nail varnish and glasses cases as well as other things. Not the tidiest house….

Eddie Izzard drawing

Just watching#skyportraitartistoftheyear Eddie Izzard was the sitter. Found a reasonably close image to what they are painting today off the Internet. I haven’t worked out how to find images of the sitters on the Web page. I must be doing something wrong. Anyway this was a quick 25 minute sketch. Using a unipin 0.8 black fine line pen. Which was running out
