New paintings and regular art updates.
I like playing with photos, and why not? These were manipulated in the photo editor on my phone.
I like the way they almost look like x-ray images. With a slight 3d effect. I want to get photoshop again, see what’s new. Learn more, find out things I don’t know.
I couldn’t fit all my pictures onto the stall today, but I got most of them on, plus some prints.
I got up at 7.40 but dispite trying to be there at 8.30 it was after 9 before I got there….ice to scrape off the car and then slow traffic. I’m lucky it didn’t snow, it was forecast!
The village hall is an old school and we were in the main room. Lots of crafts and charity stalls. I won a few things in the raffle and tombola. We finished about two and then it was time to pack up and try and fit all my paintings in my boxes, that’s an art in itself.

Acrylic paint peeled out of the tub I use to mix my paint. This is the underside. Yes I do like using bright colours. Also metallic shades. There is something about shiny paint that enthralls me..
and you can make interesting bright patterns that could be used on things like phone and tablet covers. All it takes is rotating the images and joining them together. Bright and breezy x.
Because I put the post about my art on Facebook the editor of our local paper has contacted me. That was unexpected.
He’s possibly going to write a feature about the paintings. Now is not the time to get nervous (which I sometimes do).
Fingers crossed I can remember what was the meaning behind all the paintings, it’s a long time ago! If they do an article I will let you know.
I am a local artist in Stoke-on-Trent and about 11 or 12 years ago I painted a series of murals in the Bennett suite at the Leopard Hotel in Burslem. Recently my paintings have appeared on a book, on Midlands Today a BBC local TV channel, the Sentinel newspaper and on a ghost hunting website. All without my permission. I hold the copyright for the images and I would like people to contact me if they wish to use them. The image is my painting of my painting of the Burslem Riot of 1842. I’ve contacted the people who used them but only one has responded so I have given her retrospective permission. What can I do?
Ten years ago, and before that, I was painting Jupiter. I love the planet, though its atmosphere is hellishly difficult to paint, swirls that meld into one another, colours that blend and merge.
I think I said it was like knitting the painting, because I built it up band by band.
Now I want to do more in the astronomical area. I’m thinking of painting on perspex if I can get the right effects. I woukd do something like the ‘pillars of creation’ dusty nebula. I am thinking of having different layers. How I would display it, and how accurate it would be? I don’t know-yet!

From landscapes, animals, portraits and even space, I enjoy creating unique paintings. I’m pleased to think that my pictures are going to good homes. I want my art to fit with what you want.

Well more autumn woman really. This popped up on my Facebook memories from three years ago. I’d forgotten about her. I did something similar last year, but I like this one more. I like the splurge of bright colours. I like her eyes. It went to a friend who appreciated it but to be honest there were a few people who enjoyed it.
As with all my art I like painting themes but I don’t stick to the same idea all the time. Currently my ainting include industrial archeology and history, portraits of people and animals. Space images, green men, women and animals. I do not like painting the same images constantly, my brain is fizzing too much to do that. X
I’ve got a few tiny canvases in for the next lot of pictures for craft tairs I’m doing. I’m seriously thinking about doing some more seasonal scenes, or autumnal ones. I may use reflective or metallic colours on them to give them a different feel.
The problem with getting canvases is that I can’t always get the size I want, they are not always well made, and sometimes the wood is so hard it’s difficult to put screws into them to put mirror plates on them. Also a lot of laces just sell box canvases. They are OK but they are very deep, so they are hard to frame so you have to paint the edges to make them look neat.
These are only small but I paint on even smaller matchbox sizes. I will post more photos when they are painted.
I’ve has a busy day! I took eight paintings up to the Brampton museum and art gallery for their annual Christmas show, which is an exhibition by a group of local artists to se their art through December. I still have two paintings in there for the Orme Art group show. Then I popped over to the Waiting room gallery to see their ‘Home is where the Art is – revisited’ this is another group show on for a couple of weeks. I have two paintings in it.
I’ve never had so much work exhibited in so many places at once!
