Ideas for paintings

Sketching designs for winter paintings that can still be good to have on the walls all year round. I’ve seen a painting with a pottery in the snow, so I’m going to do something similar with Holly and Ivy. The second idea is a cat on a windowledge with a blue and white vase next to it.

Will try and get them painted this week.

Something less traditional

After the intricacies of the previous painting  I decuded late last night to start this, based on  photo that I’d worked on to turn it negative. It’s also got an interesting effect of light and dark on things like the chain link fence and round the edges of the bottle ovens.

I don’t paint bottle ovens very often, they are iconic round here, but there are an overwhelming number of ainting of them. Everyone has their own style and thoughts about them, this is me trying to put on a different spin if you see what I mean. The finished work will be called Winter kilns.

Progress

15709232116956248549019902494543it’s coming on. But I know I’m looking too closely, which means I need to stand back and work out what if anything is wrong. I still need to add more bricks and sort out the trees. If I get this done I might do one of the bottle ovens.

Little brushes, lots of bricks, tiles, leaves, boards on the windows…. A derelict building, falling down gradually. I wish someone would take it on and look after it.

A subject to paint

I was looking for an image to paint yesterday and found the oldest green man that has been found. I think it’s French, or what became France, as it said it was 1st or 2nd century. I painted it yesterday and it was in the craft fair although it didn’t sell. I think I will do a bit more work on it…. IMG_20190928_222312_697why? Because I think I’ve made it too green. Which is strange as its a green man….

Owlet

I think this is my last painting for the craft fair, I’m getting too tired. This owlet was on a calendar and I couldn’t resist painting it. I think it is so cute. X

I find painting feathers and fur difficult. You can’t paint every strand of hair, tuft of fur, or every feather but if I can get a good impression of the details, that will have to do.
