I started cooking some oven chips and baked beans for tea. I didn’t want to cook anything complicated as I’m still ill. I reached in the fridge to get the pies my hubby had bought to go with it….. Oops! What I found were sweet egg custard tarts. Not a combination that would be very palatable!
So I cooked a couple of eggs to go with the other food. They were tasty and did the trick.
Next time I will check what is in the paper bag before deciding what to cook. The custard tarts made a nice dessert, probably too much egg for one meal, but filling.
Today’s band of sketchers prompt is warning… So I drew something but it was wrong the traffic lights are in the middle of the road. .. So I turned it into another cartoon. Warning! Traffic light in wrong place! A bit bonkers today I know… Made with post it notes and felt pen.
I was going to enter a couple of paintings to the three counties open this year. I thought the closing date was 30th June, but it turns out I had misread the email. The closing date has gone, it was the 20th. The work will be on display from the 30th of July 2021. I am a little annoyed with myself. I knew it was soon but I’ve been busy. I’m very disappointed. I could try next year. But that’s a year away! Grrrr!
I do like odd images that happen as a happy accident. This is our lamp shade reflected in the side window. I think it’s a bit like a floating jellyfish or an emoji? The two dark patches are the eyes and the bright patch the nose. Rather than dismissing it as an error I started playing around with it….
Now it looks like strange eyes and a nose… Sometimes it’s a fun idea to explore and use your mistakes.
When I got in from choir last night my hubby was standing in the kitchen looking perplexed. He had some bread dough in a tin because he’d decided to make a loaf. He had attempted to light the oven but it would not light. It’s a double oven with a small oven/grill at the top and a main oven. He was convinced we would have to contact the shop we got it from or get hold of a repair service. I said let me have a look…
What I saw was an egg timer symbol and another one of a casserole dish. I tried pressing the ignition. Nothing happened. I looked again at the clock display. It was several hours out? Something was clearly wrong. I asked him if he had pushed any buttons? Yes to set the timer. I looked again and realised there must be a delayed start on the main oven as it showed a casserole dish shape with a little clock face on it. I dialled that down to zero, and the egg timer down to zero. Then I tried the ignition again… It lit! I checked why the top oven was blowing out hot air… He had the grill on with the door closed and he had thought the heat had been from the main oven, so he didn’t understand why the bread hadn’t started to cook. Finally he put the dough back in the oven. The resulting loaf (which is nice and tasty) is in the photo…
