Earache

sketch-1544197370113

I’m sitting here with the cat curled up at my feet and daytime TV playing in the background. I have ear problems, making me feel dizzy.

I went and got tablets so I have been feeling better today. But it means I haven’t been able to get things done that I wanted to. Oh well I’ll be better soon. My partners gone out for a cycle ride before the sun sets. I’m fed up of the reduced hours of daylight and yet we still have 14 or 15 days before the shortest day.

The worst thing is tipping my head side ways… Then everything spins and I feel like the world is dropping away below me. In the meantime I have warm ankles because of the cat! Ah yes and I must get my Christmas cards posted. I’m thinking of putting a tree up this year but leaving it till the last minute  I’m also going to tie it to the wall somehow to keep the cats from tipping it over …  Hmm, when? not now.

Middle space poem

IMG_20181205_114502_029

One silly challenge I’ve found on Facebook is typing a phrase than clicking the middle spellchecker option to make a sentence or in this case a random poem.

I’ve decided my phrase will be:

On the twelfth day of Christmas my true love gave to me..

The link to university of Manchester

and us a metallic clunk

The artist from the pottery

The link is getting very

The artist had used a cat

in speaking to encourage

even more involvement

The link to her page

here Ive real use

The artist from Spode

at least I’m going back

memories that people

The link inch

The artist had used to be a circular

The link is broken

The artist from the road.

So thats weird……

Compassion

IMG_20181202_225825_018

The days are darker and colder now. The leaves have fallen off the trees and the homeless lie shivering on pavements in the city.

I met a homeless man a few weeks ago. He cannot find a home because he owed rent arrears, he cannot see a GP because he does not have an address. He cannot get free health care and has to buy medicine, while being homeless.

I spoke to him and he had a broken ankle, he needed care. Since then he has been to hospital where his leg, now ulcerated, was being dressed with bandages.

Now it’s a few weeks later and I saw him again asking for spare change. I gave him some and asked him how his leg was. He loosened the bandages and I could smell it. The skin is grey and black and he pulled a bit of it off. He needed money to buy dressings and also to get a bed for the night and to see an emergency nurse.

I gave him enough money to do this. I cannot ignore it. He could lose his leg, he could get gangrene or septicemia.

He has problems, I see that, he may be an addict or have a drink problem. But how can I walk by?

How can this world lack compassion? How can we put people in a position where they cannot access health care, cannot sleep in a bed, cannot have dignity? And there are so many more  elderly, sick, people with mental health problems, refugees, the destitute, the outcasts of society in my country and across the world.

When did we decide not to be compassionate? To take money from the poorest to give to the richest?

There is a statistic… 80 men own as much wealth as half of the world’s population… That’s 80 to 3,500,000,000….

Is that fair?

Have compassion, don’t walk on the other side of the street. There but for the grace of god go I.

Blue show

Blue has been chosen as a theme for an exhibition at Spode in the new year. The plans are only just in the pipeline. But the theme means that artists will only be using a true blue, no turquoise or violet.

Other colours allowed are white, grey and black.

I have plans, I have an image in mind. Possibly two, and in totally different directions. I’m also thinking of going large.

I think it will be fun and challenging. Once I find out more I will post more information.

Tabby

Just to show what I can do when I’m trying to paint realistically. This took about 4 hours. I saw a photo of it on an envelope. I’m taking it to the two craft fairs so I can try and get a commission or two.

Size about 6 inches square.

I’m going to charge a reasonable price. I usually undercharge but I will never get anywhere if I don’t try and ask for a decent amount ( not hundreds). I’m trying to make a small living at this so I have to be fair and friendly. But I cannot keep giving things away which I have done in the past …

Life……

I’ll go out and buy one.

IMG_20181123_002017_551.jpg

A handbook for engineering,

A toy racing car,

A second hand oil heater.

I’ll go out and buy one he said.

We don’t need an engineers thesaurus,

A scalextric set,

Extra heating,

She advised…..

I’ll get some glue,

And some wood

And some brackets

He said.

We don’t need shelves,

We’ve got cupboards

And drawers

She replied.

I’ll get some yeast

And flour (strong white)

And a mixing bowl

He told her.

But you burn toast

Add salt to cakes

And set fire to the grill

Three times.

I’ll buy a shed, she said

For you, she said

Then you’ll be happy

She said.

Cat names

IMG_20181120_123533_599

I was just thinking of the names I call my cats, not just their proper names but pet names.

Seamus is also Mouse,

He can be Mus it Tus tat.

Moggie, buggle, pud,

Paws, tatty cat.

Seamus can be fluff,

Great big paws.

He is muscle tough,

Also muggle and Mugs.

Gracie can be girl, girly, sweet paws,

Kitty cat, choochie, mooch, grinkle,

Spooks, cheeky tat, shortie,

Garlic, glory, tiny.

Splash, flash, sassy………

I don’t know where half of these come from. Garlic is because the pattern on Gracies face looks a bit like a garlic bulb. Seamus is mainly Mouse, they know their own names and come when called or in Seamus’s case whistled.

I think I probably call them other things which interchange between the two or cover both of them. Like little batty cats, bat’s, puddy puds, puggles, tusses and cusses.

Don’t ask me why.!

I should be sleeping

DSC_0401

I’m tired. Bed at 3.30am. But up at 8.30am, so tired. I’ve come back up to bed. But I’ve made a critical mistake .I brought my phone up with me. Cue having to keep tipping the phone to read the screen and see the text I’m typing. Cue binging noises to alert me of new stuff on my phone. Cue answering endless emails. Is this extra sleep? No it’s just sitting on the edge of the bed typing…… Note to self. Sleep is more important than the Internet !
