Easy rider!

Hubby wearing his sunglasses, off for a ride. Then he took them off because they made it too dark for him to see! Then as he went to the bike he noticed the back light is loose. He thinks he knocked it getting it out the gate, so now he’s gone out with a roll of sellotape. He says all it needs is a bit of glue. He’s going to have a ride out on his motorbike to keep the battery charged. I told him to be careful. He is just going to ride round the block a few times, up a steep hill then down a less steep road and onto the main road. It only costs £3 for a tank of petrol!

Digital drawing of Jazz

I was talking about digital art, about simple ideas to create interesting images. This is one of my old digital drawings I did years ago. Blocks of colour with added squiggles then drawn over the top with black, white and a few colours. Yes I did use different opacities but I think you coukd do something like this without them…

Playing a with Peony flower.

Paeony or Peony? How do you spell it. I changed this photos texture in Photodirector, then changed its hue and saturation and finally used the curve tool to adjust the lightness and shadows. I feel it has a look of embroidered silk or satin. The petals are more defined than the original white flower. I like the yellow and blue greens on the leaves. If this was the true colours I would say that it was an ill plant. But as this is an edit of the original I think it gives an interesting effect.

Step out

Two feet stood looking at the print… A single paw print. No more? Had it sprung down from the air and then leapt back up, to where?

Two feet thought ‘could it be a uniped? A single leg topped by what? A canine form of cyclops? Did such a thing exist, and if so how did it get around? Hopping like a one legged Sparrow? What did it eat? Should two feet be wary?

Barking from down the road, a violent noise that grew larger. Even though the unidog may be miles away sweat broke on his brow. Two feet did not stay. Not wanting to meet such a monster.

He was only two feet tall, after all!

Kirk and Spock

My favourite sci-fi characters. Captain Kirk and First Officer Spock from the 1960’s TV show ‘Star Trek’. I drew this at a website called Sketchfu which closed a few years ago. Even with the simple tools there I was able to draw them reasonably accurately. There were not that many episodes made and it only ran for three series. But it came back a few years later with follow up films and TV series. The franchise must have made a great deal of money for its backers x.

Some digital drawings I did nine years ago.

Drawn at the old Sketchfu website, four digital drawings I did there nine years ago.

Sketchfu had four sizes of circular pens, a palette, an opacity and transparency tool and probably an eraser. No applets, no layers, you just built the drawing up. You could share your drawing and others could draw onto it, so we did some collaborations, but it would take ages for the pages to load if you had added to other pages. There were four or five of us sometimes building a picture up on a theme. It was fun!

I don’t know where the ideas come from, I just can’t help being creative.
