New paintings and regular art updates.

Had the pleasure of hanging the flower baskets and planting up some pots today. I’m expecting as they settle down there will be a mass of more flowers. Last year the baskets were still partly in flower in December!

We bought home a boot full of hanging baskets today. We went a bit mad and ordered a few too many. With these and the ones on the back seat we had eight in the car. We have got to go back and collect two more. I hang them two at a time, one under another so that when I water the top one the bottom gets watered too.
We order them in April dand then wait for them to grow for a couple of months. They are usually ready for collection in the second week of June. It is mad, but I love them. They finish off the garden. Now I’ve got to hang them!

When I see your blushing pink I can see why Shakespeare was so effusive about you.
Pink and packed with petals, this rose shone out in the twilight. The dark green contrasting with the fresh colour of the flower.
I wish I had the skill to weave a story about you, perhaps your antecedents were worn by Cinderella at the ball, or the scent of you enchanted Snow White.
I think I heard roses came from Ancient Persia. Wherever they originated, they are lovely. I saw these outside the Portmeirion factory in Stoke, they brightened my evening.

A warm evening, so we walked along past this grassy area. Unfortunately I’d forgotten I have hay-fever, (it’s just the start of the season) so I walked round with my eyes itching!
I think the flowers are buttercups and dasies, Is there is a song with those words in it? Good to see the flowers though. The bees were buzzing around and enjoying them.
We walked about three miles, we saw a few people and actually chatted at a distance, but it was good to get out.

I don’t know what they are called but these blue petalled flowers with their deep pink centers cheered me up today. This was while I was on a three or four mile walk. I’ve managed to get out again on my walks and done around 9000 steps for the first two days of June. I hope I can keep it up.

The spring has almost gone
High summer peeps around the corner.
Blazing sun and full flowers
Are queuing to appear
Lazy days and blousy blooms
Heat haze over a lake
Birds throng with joyous songs
Now we can stay out late
Not worry about frosts and ice.
Till autumn blows in again…

Pink green and white
Garden delight
Found on our walk
Flowers on their stalk
Intermingled pink and green
And white, glowing, clean
Really bad poem?
Better get going!

What are they?
Pink petals
Soft
Finely scented
Given with love and devotion
Showing they care
Perfect flowers
Blushing with beauty
For love and lovers.

Just a drawing of the tulips, I decided to use these colours to represent the spring and added the holographic paper as shards of pottery. You can make up all sorts of ideas in a collage…
Such nice spring flowers. Bright, colourful, petals like satin. Soft and shapely. It’s no wonder that there was a tulip frenzy a few centuries ago. Tulips with colours that look like flames due to a virus. A single tulip bulb could cost more than a house. I think this was in Holland. My favourites are the dark coloured ones, deep magenta or purple, almost black.
Yes tulips are one of my favourites. You have to remember to plant them deep enough about double the depth of the bulb I think? They tend to fade a bit in their second year but they give a good show if planted in drifts.
