Abstract face

Another quick fingerpainting this time just in sketchbook app. You can vary the pens and brushes, there’s a large selection, but they are almost too numerous to work with. It’s hard sometimes to decide which to use. Thank heavens for the back button so I can delete what I don’t like. This started out as a quick sketch that I was drawing to show a friend how the app worked, but then I decided to finish it tonight.

Figures are hard to finger paint, the details are difficult to draw clearly. In this Artrage oils drawing I threw pretty much all the pen tools at it, including watercolour, spray paint, and an eraser pen. I’m not quite certain why it turned into an angel, I think I was just trying to fully fill the page. Again this experiment seems to say freedom is a good thing to try and work to…

I decided to play with digital drawing again did a drawing in the Artrage app and them modified it in the Sketchbook app. I then used the incollage app to create a collage of the steps I had taken. Finally I used an Instagram filter to change the hues of the images. I did all of this as a finger drawing. I need to try using a stylus for a more controlled effect.

Tuesdays #bandofsketchers prompt was hold. So I did digital finger painting! I added clasped hands to an abstract background that I had already drawn in a digital app called sketchbook.

Finger painted in the new app and then collaged. Is anyone getting bored by these digital drawings? I am not going to keep posting these. I will try and do something else unless I can create something a bit better. There are lots of pens and tools on this app and it is interesting, but it’s going to take a while to get used to it….

Can’t stop playing with my phone apps. I don’t know where I get all my ideas from. I hope you enjoy them. I like using multiple apps to get different results. Then you can use various filters. I really like the freedom of finger or stylus painting. I have only ever “built” an image with CAD when I did a course in computer aided design several years ago. Yes I could build boxes into a house, or circles and elipses into a face, but it’s not the same as the freedom of drawing. Yes I’ve used flower templates here, but I had to change and add to it. I get bored otherwise!

Digital doodle of a heart for valentines day (February 14th). I might turn it into cards. I used Artrage oils for the background, then sketcher app for the red heart, using a symmetry tool so it’s equal on both sides. I used a slightly paler centre so the heart appears almost hollow. It could also be a dragon with curving wings….
Today’s #bandofsketchers prompt was Flight. This is a digital finger painting. I used artrage oils a free app I downloaded onto my phone. There is a bigger version but you have too pay for it. Finger painting is hard but I like the oily texture this app creates. Got to try other things than felt pens. X

Drawn in ArtRage oils. A picture made up of dots then mirrored to give it symmetry. This took about half an hour to draw the pattern (a quarter of the image). I used the metallic pen option. The colours are darker with this but you get a rippled affect on the surface. I decided to draw a rainbow of colours that gradually move across the screen. It could also be used as a pattern on fabrics.
