Butterfly

Sundays #bandofsketchers prompt was butterfly, moth or insect. I decided to do a symmetrical drawing of a butterfly using the Sketchbook app on my phone. Basically I haven’t seen many of them so far this year. So I preferred doing my own design rather than using an Internet image to work from. It’s definitely sketchy!

Chopped

Thursdays #bandofsketchers prompt was chopped. I could have drawn a can of chopped tomatoes, or a tree chopped down. But I wanted to play with ideas so I sketched a loaf chopped in half, I was using the various digital drawing apps that I have on my phone. Seeing if I could import the image between each of them!

Who’s this memory of?

Digital drawing of David Tennant from ten years ago. Drawn at a now defunct website called Sketchfu. I’d come in from work and go and draw on line to relax. I’ve always loved the BBC Sci fi series Dr Who and David Tennant in the modern era, and Tom Baker in the classic series were my favourite Dr’s.

Eye see the world

A doodle, I liked it, only a simple finger painting exploiting the tools in Artrage.. I might do more to this, but I just left it as it is for now.

I wonder what coming generations will think about how we treated the world they will inherit. Weather forecasts are saying southern European countries will experience the hottest summer temperatures this weekend, up to 48.9°C, about 113°F. About 60,000 excess deaths in Europe were recorded last year from heat related causes. What are we doing?!

So keep your eyes on the world and do your best to cut global emissions. Thanks.

Overlays

I added different textures, scratches, and overlays to my dotty drawing from earlier oni don’t know why but I have to push the boundaries to my work until it feels finished. I guess that’s why I call myself an experimental fine artist. I like the way it’s digital but it could be painted and then weathered and flaking. I keep editing until I cannot get an improvement in the image.

Abstracting or adding?

What has this become? Duplicated, added filters, texture, sharpness. Mixed and muddled. Colourful, like false colour terrain. You can have a lot of fun with digital art. I feel like I’m flying over a mad landscape, rather like in 2001 a space oddessy when Dave Bowman flies through an alien landscape near the end of the film. What fun a bit psychedelic! x
