Ivy

Ivy is growing right over our roof and into the yard. I’m worried that the roof of the extention will be damaged. The problem is neither of us are up to the heavy work required to sort it out. So the yard is starting to look like a picturesque ruin. I took a photo because the sun was setting and the sky was a nice, contrastong pink, but I think my camera over exposes photos, so you can only see a hint of the salmon pink it was glowing.

White and red

At Biddulph Grange garden last year. I’m not sure what the stone signifies, but the frothy white blossom flowers of the bush contrast with the larger strong red colour of the flowers below it. I love the combination of colours together with the green of the grass and hedging. I love coming across views like this and my phone is crammed with images that I have taken over the years.

Had to add

A bird in a tree…

I always find finger painting trees and details difficult in digital apps, I really need to find my digital stylus out, but I don’t know where its gone. This was drawn in the Sketchbook app.

Anyway this fits in with the poem I wrote this morning. The bird on the tree is probably a blackbird (it’s difficult to draw something that delicate accurately). I loved creating this because it’s different to my usual style. And I’m really pleased with the colour combination of yellow overlaying black and grey.

Afternoon

What’s your favorite time of day?

When the sun is overhead

Light shines down on bright flower beds

Makes the hazy colours shine

On plants and flowers and bees divine

At the stroke of noon I see

Primary colours, one two three..

Red and blue and yellow too

And the other colours hue

Make me want to paint and draw

All the beauty that I saw

Afternoon is the key

Makes my mind feel oh so free

Mornings are OK I guess

But post meridians are the best!

Hanging baskets and a moth

I managed to step down a four inch step at the backdoor with hubbys help. Took photos of the hanging baskets before autumn starts to chill them…

Just feeling a bit of sunshine on my face was lovely. As I was helped inside again I spotted the pale grey moth with dark markings was resting, wings out on the back door, bonus! Outside at last, even if it was only a few minutes. X
