Quick doodle, trying to learn how to use a sketching app, but I haven’t used this device for several months, I usually use my phone. I can’t quite work out the settings on the app. But as a basic little doodle I guess its OK. I must practice on this more.

Prompt ‘shiny’

Spoon on a chair throw. My version of shiny… My drawing for today’s #bandofsketchers prompt.
Drawn with felt pens and permanent marker pens. Why a spoon? It was an opportunity to draw the bowl of the spoon and the way the reflections curve round it. The handle is a bit wonky, but not bad. Reasonably happy with it.
Been neglecting my blog.

My mind is on my college course. We are at the end of another semester and I have to hand my work in today. Learning to write academically is hard. Referencing quotes, using citations. I guess someone who does it all the time will find it easy. It’s all part of the learning process. Anyway I should be a bit more ‘present’ over the next few weeks. Hope I don’t bore you.
Sky portrait artist of the year programme

Watched Sky Portrait artist of the year, semi final with Booker Prize winner, Bernadine Evaristo as the sitter. I got an image of her from the net and tried to draw her. It’s not a good likeness but I tried. Thirty to Forty minute drawing. Felt pens on cartridge paper.
Old drawing of toadstools.
Drawings found in a cupboard today. They are of Fly Agaric toadstools. No date to say when I did them so it must be several years ago. The drawing is unfinished, so it might be when we were moving house? I found some paints at the same time….
Punk

Memory of the 1970’s and 80’s. The punk era. Digital drawing done on the sketcher free app. I drew this three years ago so I don’t remember it much. Found on my Facebook memories….
Found old paints

Found these paints in the back of a drawer. About thirty years old!
They are Rowney Oils and Windsor and Newton Watercolours and a box of various paints, chalks, and coloured pencil. Goodness knows why they got put away. I haven’t checked the oils, they may have dried out, but the watercolours and chalks and pencils should be fine. I think I could call this a win!
Cluttered desk

#bandofsketchers prompt. My cluttered desk, there’s a keyboard for the computer under there somewhere. Used slightly more muted colours. I’ve definitely got too much ‘stuff’ in my life!
Flood filled

A digital drawing that I used texture and flood fill on. I feel like the result is somehow alien, maybe some sort of spiritual feeling. Maybe it’s the colours that seem like stained glass. The purple coming down the nose reminds me of a helmet with light shining on it. The front of the body could be interpreted as a chest plate or armour.
When you are adding texture it’s interesting to decide when to stop. The same with the flood fill. Too much or not enough? I think you learn as you go along what sort of image you want.
Hubby drawing

He’s still colouring in the book although it’s 2.30am. So I did a very quick sketch of him drawing (five minutes). He’s got his own style. But that doesn’t matter. It’s the fact that he’s doing it which is good. It gives him focus and flow. It’s great to see him doing it.
I just watched a programme about the life of the artist Bob Ross and how he taught art in America in the 1980’s & 1990’s. He sadly died at a young age.
Art is sometimes therapy. It is a good thing. I would encourage people to take it up.
