Strange little painting
Came from my mind
A little idea
Of a bird in a tree
Old window bars
Rusty and dry
Frame a bright view
Of a frozen blue sky.
Jay at the centre
Waiting to fly.
New paintings and regular art updates.

Lots of small and tiny paintings, jewellery and prints were also for sale today at the exhibition. The ginger cat at the front centre found a new home. I was only charging a small amount so it was good to sell a few. I even discounted them more. Sometimes you need space to create new things.

Two boards I had paintings on today. I also had a table with small paintings, jewellery and prints. I sold a few pieces which was good and I think I got a good reception from people. Overall most people in the group seemed to have a good day. It was quite busy all day from when we opened to the last few minutes. It was also good chatting with artists and finding out bit more about their work. I’m tired but happy.

When you have problems with shaking it’s difficult to paint details. This canvas is about 2 inches by 3 inches and the Jay in the central window pane is less than an inch high. I tried hard to paint the details. I think I did OK but it’s not perfect. But hopefully it will be a nice little gift…

I cheated and made this moon painting circular with an ellipse tool on my phone. In reality I can’t get the thing circular so I’m going to use an upturned mug! I’ve got several tiny paintings for sale later today. Eclectic art!

Small canvas, about two inches by three. It’s meant to be a window with a rusty frame. Frosty window panes. I’m going to add branches and maybe a bird like a Jay. The texture has been done with a pallette knife. I don’t usually use these but I was given a set at Christmas. I’m waiting for it to dry so I can add more to it.

Two versions of a work in progress. The top one is the original and the bottom is a digitally manipulated version. I think I will change the colours and add dark areas between the tree trunks. I might add some texture to the trees too. Size is 6 inches by 4. Acrylic on canvas.

Halcyon days
Blue blur
Fish snatched
From branch
To stream
Then back up!
Electric blue
Just flew!

I’ve finished a couple of paintings today. Pretty much as soon as I finished my MA work I picked up a paintbrush again. I’m part of a group exhibition on Saturday and I wanted to finish some new work. Dragons have crept into a couple of the paintings. The one on the left is ‘dragon saucer’ and the right is ‘ulysses’. Illustration has seeped into my veins!

I’ve started painting the saucer to the dragon coffee set that I photographed at the weekend. I’m gradually building it up as it’s very complex and I want to make sure I position the details as well as I can. I’m also struggling to get the effect of air brushing that is on the pottery. That will be difficult.
