Part done…

My birthday treat, hanging baskets up, some plants on the wall. I still need to empty some pots that have weeds in and do the rest of the wall and on the ground. Sometimes I will place pots on top of other pots that have soil in them so they get more light and the roots can grow down into the lower pot. Possible further plants I want are trailing lobelia, fushias, pelargoniums, nemesia, montbrecia, busy lizzies, sweet peas and oriental poppies.

I have a hosta in flower, lilies that are away from where the cats can go (it’s pollen is poisonous to them), a hydrangea, Welsh poppies. I also have an apple tree that my hubby put in that I’m trying to trail horizontally against the fence.

My main concern is the garden is very shaded now as my neighbour has put an 8 foot fence in. I’m hoping the shelter it offers will create a microclimate and allow the plants to last well into the autumn.

Eating too many

It’s been just too hot and humid. I’m tired out so I’ve eaten far too many ice creams over the past two or three weeks. Even when it rains it stays warm and it’s very humid too. I don’t  know when it will let up. I keep sleeping in my chair and I can’t sleep in bed because I either feel cold or hot. Tomorrow it might be thundering. (us brits don’t understand humidity, we call it puthery round here)…..

Happy times

Describe one of your favorite moments.

One of my favourite moments is collecting my hanging baskets from a local nursery. Today  (yesterday now) I did that. It was my birthday treat. I ordered 6 this year instead of 8 so I bought some extra plants for the walls and ground. I was really pleased with them. Luckily my sister was over for a visit so she helped me hang them. And that was a favourite moment.

Don’t look at the sun!

A couple of days ago I was driving home and came round a bend to see a bright red sun on the horizon. For a second I stared at it then realised it was dangerous and looked away. But it was slightly too late. Now when I look I can see a slight bright patch where my eyes had wandered across the view. It’s faded a bit so I guess I haven’t done permanent damage but I will try not to do that again!

So much for a restful day…

Next door is banging and drilling again! So much for a quiet day. I live in a terraced house and there is no soundproofing between us, so the noise can be distracting.

This has been going on for probably a year. I thought the drill was going to come through my wall a few minutes ago. He must have been drilling a deep hole. I presume he’s fitting the house out now?

Last week I found half a window frame in my yard. I was tempted to try and throw it back but I don’t have the strength and I don’t want to break anything! And there goes the drilling again. I will have to go out.

SWEARWORDS!

Freedom to say no.

One of my digital drawings

I was due to go out to an annual craft fair and party today, but I feel panicked. I could go, force myself, but I’m tired and I need to go shopping, get medication and tidy up because I’m expecting a visitor tomorrow.

Then I realised that I have the freedom to say no. I don’t have to rush out, to stand in a long queue for a burger, or listen to over loud music. Being in a crowd bothers me. I usually get a headache. My friend who was coming with me has not been able to get the time off. I already feel hot and bothered. So I’ll give it a miss this time. X

If a loud crowd is not your thing then don’t be cowed, be proud and say no.

Watching

The world watches

ICE tendrils grip my heart

I could never visit this place

Antipathy to dictatorship

Not allowed now.

Colour matters

And causes fear and loathing.

Even the first settlers are abused.

Arrived before Europeans

And yet told to leave?

How many generations

Before you are allowed to stay?

All Glory to the Presiclown…?

No way.

My tag line?

If humans had taglines, what would yours be?

Artistic Cat lover?

First I had to ask Google what a tagine was!

A tagline is a short, catchy phrase or memorable sentence that encapsulates the essence of a brand or product. It’s often used in advertising and marketing to convey the key benefits or message associated with the brand, helping to create brand awareness and recognition. Think of it as the brand’s verbal logo, simple, memorable, and impactful.

Key features of a tagline:

  • Short and memorable: Taglines should be concise and easy to recall.
  • Captures the brand’s essence: They should reflect the brand’s values, personality, and mission.
  • Used consistently: Taglines are typically used across various marketing materials to maintain a cohesive brand image.
  • Can be descriptive, imperative, provocative, or specific: They can highlight what the brand promises to deliver, encourage action, pose a question, or focus on a specific characteristic.
  • Can be a slogan: While slogans are often temporary and tied to a specific campaign, a tagline is a more consistent, long-term representation of the brand’s identity.

Well I’m not a commercial business. I don’t think I’d personally like a tagline. But Artistic Cat lover sort of fits the bill. Both of these things have been part of my life for almost all of my existence. I’m not promising anything, I’m not selling anything, and I hope what I’m saying makes sense. X
