Dusty cats

IMG_20181025_190010_080

I love ornaments, but have an aversion to dusting, hence all of my ceramic cats are rather dusty.

The more I collect the worse I get. I added up the number of cat ormaments I had once and gave up after 50. I’m afraid I like collecting “useless tat”. Maybe one day I could use them in an art work. Or more likely they will sit and continue to gather dust.

I think each of these cats is a depiction of a Egyptian goddess Bast? I may be wrong.

Abandoned chair

FB_IMG_1540423872619

I took this photo last year. A chair left on a little triangle of a traffic island near the local police station.

Cars were rushing past, oblivious of the empty chair. I wondered what it had been used for? Sitting, standing on to reach cupboards or an electric meter, decorating or painting the ceiling?

It looked fine so why abandon it? Had its ex owner got a new table and chairs or just disposed if this because it didn’t fit in with their new colour scheme regardless of whether it was still useful.

Maybe there needs to be a royal society for the prevention of cruelty to chairs?

Just saying.

Catlick

I love the shapes cats make, even when they are having a wash…

Catlick, wash and brush up.

Preening and tidying,

Smoothing your fur..

Make yourself handsome,

Tidy your whiskers

Top to tail,,

Then your inner gymnast,

Turns you upside down,

Inside out,

Legs akimbo! (love those words).

Purrs escaping like a boiling kettle.

Shapes like a twister game.

You are my cat.

Beautiful and gleaming.

Jupiter tryptich

DSC_0123

While painting the autumn woman I started this. It’s three long thin canvases and I’m trying to work out how to paint the new patterns on Jupiter on them.

The latest photos of the planet are amazing and I think it’s going to be a real challenge  This is going to be old fashioned painting, not fluid painting that has become popular. One of the paintings will be exhibited and the other two will be painted during a couple of open days down at Spode Studios.

With luck I will be able to do this!

Using payment apps

DSC_0126.JPG

Taking payments? It’s all new to me. I have just spent days trying to sort out an account I opened years ago but then never had need to use it.

I finally decided to bite the bullet and set it up. 1st problem, it asked me to add a bank account. So I did  then it asked me to set up a direct debit. But I didn’t understand why as I wanted to receive a payment, not make one. So I deleted the account  then realised I wanted to use it after all. It took days to get that sorted after finally talking to a person not a computer.

So that was it. Except. Now I have taken a small payment but I don’t know how to transfer it to the bank. I think its gone but I’m not sure. All I can say is I wish there was a manual for this sort of thing. I feel like I’m floundering around in thick fog .Things to do but I don’t necessarily know how. Maybe I should try and get on a marketing course!

New picture wip

Wip, work in progress. Someone has asked me for a painting of a green woman in green, brown and gold. I’m letting a little bit of red creep in. And turquoise too.

I want to model the shape to make it a bit more 3d so I will need to spend more time on it but it’s come on a lot considering I only started it today!

I actually went to the studio despite having a cold. Once I was in there I pout all the heating on. Snug in there but freezing in the corridors  Plus I’m planning a painting of Jupiter. We’ll a tryptich actually. 3 long canvases.. Photos to follow.

You said

IMG_20181022_182257_105

You said she was having an affair.

Did I?? I don’t remember..  .

Yes, about 10 minutes ago, you told me, you said she was seeing him.

Well I might have been wrong.

So? Is she or isn’t she?

Well I’m not sure now…..

Oh come on, I missed half of it…. John rang and I had to answer, then you went off on one about trains. And you tell me half a story.

Well it’s complicated.

Complicated? Oh you must know….

Do you think it’s going to rain later?

What? What’s that got to do with it? Just TELL me what is going on, please.

No, I can’t remember, sorry. Anyway it’s only a soap opera.

Oh for goodness sake!

Playing with writing a duolog. I didn’t want to describe the people talking or to add details of their landscape.

In my mind one is male and the other female  Could you tell which is which?

I didn’t want it to be clear at the start that they were talking about a TV programme so I left it until the end of the discussion to mention a soap opera. I don’t know if this sort of squabbling is anyone else’s experience.

Gracie

She’s small, she’s bright,

She’s funny, she’s nice

Black and white,

Cool as ice.

Plays with toys

And catnip mice.

Grace’s has to run

And chases her brother,

Till she’s won.

Gives lots of purrs

And miaows for fun,

She’s my cat,

A cheeky one!

Not a very profound poem, just what I was thinking while looking at these photos of her.

ArtRage free app

Both these drawings were done as digital finger paintings in ArtRage oils, a free app in the Galaxy play store.

I’ve had the app for ages, so like a lot of things you become blase and don’t remember to use it, but it’s there in the background. Anyway I liked playing with these drawings, there is a metallic option and with the first I gradually dialled down the metallic pen as I worked my way out . This also has the effect of making the colours paler. I only used the thick oil brush on its widest setting.

The second picture, poppy, was drawn over the top of the first. Instead of just using one brush I used the driest brush option and used dots as well as streaking the red colours across the picture.

I’m sure there is much more I can do. I love vibrant colours and this app gets me excited. I love having a 3d effect when I’m drawing digitally.
