A four year old poem!

Off to bed I’d better go,
Not been sleeping well you know.
Now my head will hit the pillow,
Dreams arrive, and nightmares billow.
Give me sleep to round the day,
Make it sweet not cruel or fey.
A deep and dream less sleep I crave,
Like one beneath the very grave.
To wake anew to summers day.
And hope my hayfever keeps well away!

Something I found in my Facebook memories. I still have trouble sleeping. But it’s not THIS bad!

Gate prompt

#bandofsketchers prompt for Sunday was gate or stile.

I did a coloured drawing of this on the computer but when I tried to save it the computer crashed! Anyway this is a black and white drawing of a broken gate to a field. It was imagined because I couldn’t find a thing that was nice on the computer.

I wonder if the digital drawing I did is saved somewhere on my old PC. Anyway this is the best I can do.

Walking today

Three walks around and about today totalling 11.97km (almost 7.5 miles)

Two were around the university then a late walk once things had cooled down this evening. I walked up our steep hill and saw the sunset, I didn’t get a good photo of it, then on and around the top of our hill before descending again. I know I’ve gone far enough because my feet and ankles are aching.

I came home to an errant bumble bee. We tried to put it outside but it must have flown back through an open window because I caught one of my cats looking like it was about to pounce on it. In the end I used the mug and envelope technique and it was transported safely out of the back door and flew off onto the night.

Walking with closer to home.

I went on a walk today with a group called closer to home. I couldn’t keep up all the way round their five mile walk but I did my best. You know a city is linked by main roads, but we went up old pathways, along the old track bed of a railway, the potteries loop line, and back along the canal.

Towards the end I found I was struggling, it was like I’d hit the wall, but I ket going and finished only a few hundred yards to the rear of the group. A friend walked along with me so it wasn’t too bad.

Tired

Another day of a bug. I don’t think it’s covid, I think it’s some sort of cold. I ache and I’m tired, but I don’t have the covid symptoms thankfully. I usually go outside wearing a mask. But one day last week I forgot. But as I was not going in any shops I thought I’d be OK. But perhaps someone sneezed or coughed? And I try to stop breathing for a few seconds as I walk passed people….

I guess there will be a lot less bugs about as we sheild ourselves from the Pandemic. But it doesn’t mean there aren’t other illnesses out there. Waiting for some throat or nose to lodge in, or to be caught on your hand by touching a surface with bacteria or viruses that have landed on it.

Life… A convoluted mix of luck and confusion.

Snow and sun

Blurry back yard, the plants have been watered and are starting to grow. But the snow showered us today. Cold winds blew, and the outdoor cat came in to get warm.

Health wise I went to the shop, but after walking just 2 km I was absolutely shattered. Still that’s 2km more than I’ve done for the last two days! I hope I’ll be able to do more tomorrow….

Not well

I feel unwell. Grey and cold, achey, tired. Under the weather.

I didn’t go for a walk yesterday or today. Unlike this photo the sun was shining in a bright blue sky, with fluffy white clouds scudding across it. Me? I keep falling asleep. I want to hibernate, like a little cold hedgehog. Tucking my head under the duvet and waiting for the headache and tummy upset to go away. Spikey and fed up, but not well enough to want to do anything about it.

😭

Normal service will resume as soon as possible….. Hopefully!

Hubby’s Motorbike Stolen

Hubby’s Motor scooter was stolen early this morning. We went to bed late after watching a film. Then about five am someone started hammering on our front door. Hubby shouted he was calling the police, and the man outside said he was the police!

He said they had just seen it being ridden round Stoke and that it had been stolen. Hubby checked the gate and the padlock and hasp had been broken and the motorbike / scooter was gone.

They went off and we decided to drive round to see if we could find anything. What we did find was a large covered mobility scooter in the alleyway by our garden. It had been damaged where someone had broken through its faring to hot wire? The motor. I guess they must have done the same with ours and ridden off. On it. We reported it to the insurers, we will see what happens.

Hartshill Nature reserve

Although the nature reserve is on a steep slope, there is still a pool on it. The end with the bridge over it might be a dam. I don’t know the history of the place but there are steep steps down into it and in some areas what paths there are, are quite slippy.

I had to lean on my friends arm to get down one section, not socially distanced but I was wearing a mask.

Today was sunny with very warm temperatures, the warmest March day since 1968. Red admiral butterflies were flitting about in pairs and triplets. The bird song was loud and liquid. Buds were bursting and insects humming.

I did another five miles today, that seems to be my upper limit for walking at the moment. Tomorrows planned walk is about the same length!

Sleep

An old drawing done in 2019. When life was comfortable, the cats were snug. I hadn’t started doing my illustration course and I was drawing for pleasure.

I’d done another challenge, a hundred days drawing challenge, I think this was done on the third day because I’ve highlighted the date in red. I don’t know which of the cats this was. It isn’t our outside cat, because he was still living outside then (now all I have to do is whistle by the back door and he comes).

Anyway this just popped up in my memories, so I thought I would share it. A happy black and white cat, asleep, with no worries.
